PULSE - Wireless Stereo Headset- Setup and Troubleshooting

This article will help you to set up the Pulse- Wireless Stereo Headset and troubleshoot issues.

 
 

What are the part names and functions?

1 Headband
Slide the headband to adjust the fit to your head.
2 L marking
3 MIXER slider
Adjusts the relative volume of chat and game audio.
4 Microphone
Keep the right speaker away from the microphone on the left side to preventaudio feedback (howling sound).
5 Status indicator

7 VSS (Virtual Surround Sound)
ON/OFF button

Press and hold for more than one second:
Turns the virtual surround sound effect on and off. By default the VSS is on.
Rear

2 BassImpact™ slider
BassImpact™ converts low frequency bass sounds into pulses around the earpads. To completely turn off BassImpact™, slide the BassImpact™ slider to the OFF position until it clicks.

MIC MUTE button

  • Press to switch MIC MUTE on and off.
  • Hold down the MIC MUTE button until a beep is heard: Switch the volume of the sidetone between high and middle, or off.

Sidetone is a feature that allows you to hear your own voice from the headset. For this model, you cannot adjust the volume of the sidetone on the PS3™ system’s screen. When MIC MUTE is on, the sidetone is turned off.

Connect to a supported USB device to charge the headset. (Type A - mini-B USB cable sold separately.)
2 Audio input/output jack
When the included audio cable is connected to the headset for use with mobile devices, the wireless function is turned off.

How do I set up the PULSE - Wireless Stereo Headset?

  • Connect the wireless adaptor to the PS3 system via one of the system’s USB connectors.
  • Ensure that the headset is fully charged by connecting it to the PS3 system using a USB cable (supplied separately). If the battery charge is low, the headset will output an audio signal when connected.
  • Slide the power button to turn the headset on.
  • Ensure that the latest version of the system software is installed on the PS3 system by accessing the XMB Menu and choosing Settings > [System Update]. If a system software update is available, download and install it. System software version 4.20 or later is required for the headset to operate correctly.

Note: The headset’s Virtual Surround function is turned on by default. To turn it off, press and hold the VIRTUAL SURROUND ON/OFF button for two seconds.

Are there any additional settings?

  • The headset can play chat audio only or game and chat audio simultaneously. To adjust this setting, access the XMB Menu and choose Settings > [Accessory Settings] > [Stereo Headset Audio Extension].
  • Choose [ON] to play game and chat audio simultaneousy or choose [OFF] to play chat audio only.

How do I troubleshoot connection issues with the PULSE – Wireless Stereo Headset?

  • The headset does not charge.
  • The headset does not turn on.
  • The headset turns on but will not pair with the wireless adaptor (no audio signal output).
  • When the headset is connected to the PS3 system, the message ‘Unknown Device’ is displayed on-screen.

How do I troubleshoot the headset?

  1. Ensure that the wireless adaptor is correctly connected to the PS3 system via one of the system’s USB connectors.
  2. Remove any unused wireless adaptors from other USB connectors on the PS3 system.
  3. Ensure that there are no other wireless devices operating in the vicinity, as these may cause interference.

How do I reset the headset?

If the headset stops responding and does not operate correctly, reset it as follows:

  1. Ensure that the wireless adaptor is connected to the PS3 system.
  2. Use a small object (like a pin) to press and hold the Reset button inside the hole on the side of the wireless adaptor.
  3. After a second or two, the Status indicator will flash repeatedly.
  4. Ensure that the headset is turned off. Press and hold the MIC MUTE button, the MODE button and the VSS ON/OFF button while turning the headset on. The headset’s Status indicator will flash. If the headset is not connected to a PS3 system via a USB cable, the Status indicator will remain blue when pairing is complete. If the headset is connected to a PS3 system via a USB cable, the Status indicator will turn red when pairing is complete.
