How to send messages on PS5 consoles

How to message a friend on PS5 consoles

  1. Press the PS button to go to the control center and select Game Base.
  2. Go to the Friends tab and select the friend you want to message.
    You can also select New Message and search for a player.
  3. Select Messages.
    A window appears.
  4. Send a message to get the conversation going.
    Enter your own text or select Messaging Options to send a quick message (pre-written message), voice message, screenshot, video clip, or sticker.  
  1. Go to the control center and select Game Base.
  2. Go to the Messages tab and select New Message.
  3. Select the players you want to be in your group and then select OK.
    If you select players that you're already in a group with, those groups are displayed. To create a new group with these players, select Create New Group.
  4. Send a message to get the conversation going.
  • If you want to message a player who isn't your friend, go to the Messages tab in step 2 and select New Message. Search for a player or choose a player from one of the lists.
  • You can also use PlayStation App on your mobile device to send messages to players.
  • You can react to incoming messages without having to leave your game. When you receive a message notification, press the PS button and select Reply.

How to interact with your group

Want to talk in real time? Start a party voice chat and invite your group members. When you're ready to play, invite your group to your game, or start a new one.

If you're not in a group yet, try sending a player a message. After the first message is sent, a group is created between you and the player. 

To access a group, go to the control center and select Game Base. Go to the Messages tab and select the group from the list. 

If you don't see the group you're looking for, select View All Messages. Game Base opens in full screen on the Messages tab where you can select a group.
