How to automatically update system software on PS5 consoles
Automatically update your system software while your console is in rest mode so that the next time you use your console, the system software is updated to the latest version.
Select Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
Turn on Download Update Files Automatically and Install Update Files Automatically.
How to auto-download game/app updates on PS5 consoles
Automatically update your games and apps while your console is in rest mode so that the next time you use them, they're updated to their latest version.
Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates.
Turn on Auto-Download or Auto-Install in Rest Mode.
When you don't want to close your suspended game, only turn on Auto-Download. Only the download is automatic in rest mode. When you resume your game, you can choose whether or not to install the update.
When you start a game or app, it automatically updates to the newest version available.
Once you have enabled auto-downloads and updates, remote downloads are available when purchasing content through PlayStation Store online or on mobile.
Select Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode.
Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet.
Selecting Enable Turning On PS5 from Network from this menu allows you to use the PlayStation App or Remote Play to turn on your PS5 console while it's in rest mode.
Go to Settings > Power Saving Settings > Set Features Available in Rest Mode.
Turn on Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning On PS4 from Network.
Selecting Enable Turning On PS4 from Network from this menu allows you to use the PlayStation App or Remote Play to turn on your PS4® console while it's in rest mode.
