Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is PlayStation Now?

PlayStation Now is a game streaming service that allows on-demand access to a vast library of over 500 PS4 and PS3 games. You can browse the library and play as many of the 500+ games as you want, for as long as you want, all streaming to your PS4 or Windows PC without having to wait for any games to download, and all with a single paid subscription (7-day trial available).

  • Does PS Now support multiplayer?

Yes, games in the PlayStation Now library allow access to the same local split-screen and online multiplayer modes as paid retail and digital versions of the games. PS Now players are connected with the same live servers as people who have purchased a copy of the game. In addition, PS4 and PS3 multiplayer games can be enjoyed through PS Now without a PlayStation Plus subscription (PS Plus is required for online multiplayer for PS4 games outside of the PS Now service). Multiplayer invites can also be sent and received, just like normal.

  • Do games in the PS Now service have Trophies?

Yes, every game in the service supports the same trophies as when you own the game. Trophies are unlocked in real time and sync to your account. PS4 gameplay activity and trophy unlocks appear in your activity feed seen by other players on the PS4 dashboard.

  • If I have already played a PS4 game that is in the service, can I continue with my own save file?

Yes, you can copy save files to and from the PS Now cloud save storage associated with your PSN account via the PS Plus cloud save storage (requires valid PS Plus subscription). You can continue a game on PS Now to finish your play-through by copying your old save data to the service, and you can start a game in PS Now and then download your save file to your PS Plus storage, then copy to your own PS4, so you can finish the game later on if you purchase a digital or retail copy.

  • What devices can I use to play games with my PlayStation Now subscription?

PlayStation Now is currently supported on the following devices:

    • PlayStation®4 (PS4 games, PS3 games)
    • PlayStation®3 (PS3 games only)
    • Windows PCs (PS4 games, PS3 games)
    • PlayStation®Vita (PS3 games only)
    • PlayStation®TV (PS3 games only)
    • Select Sony TVs (PS3 games only)
    • Select Sony Blu-ray Players (PS3 games only)
    • Select Samsung Smart TVs (PS3 games only)

However, note that on August 15, 2017, we will be discontinuing the service on the following devices. After that date, only PlayStation 4 and Windows PC will be supported.

    • PlayStation 3
    • PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV
    • All 2013, 2014, 2015 Sony Bravia TV models
    • All Sony Blu-ray player models
    • All Samsung TV models

All game progress and save data made on any of these devices is saved to the PS Now save cloud, so users may log into their PSN account from any other PS Now-supported device to access the same save data. PS4 gameplay data may be transferred back and forth between the PS Now save cloud and the PS Plus online storage (requires valid PS Plus subscription).
