Streaming PlayStation Video to a second display

HD streaming to a second display requires HDCP compatibility (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). OS X is not compatible with HDCP, which means that you cannot stream HD PlayStation Video content to a second screen using Mac.

However, you can view HD PlayStation Video content directly on your Mac and you can stream SD PlayStation Video content to your second display through your Mac web browser. See your device instructions to find out how to connect a second display.

You can connect your PC to another display (your HDTV for example) if you prefer to watch your PlayStation Video content on a larger screen.

You can only stream HD PlayStation Video content via web browser if your PC and second screen meet HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) requirements.

You can check whether your devices meet HDCP requirements by playing this free HD trailer. Follow the instruction below to find out how to use the trailer to test your devices.

  1. Select [Rent] and confirm by clicking [Order & Pay]. Don’t worry, your wallet will not be charged as the cost of the video will show as 0.00.
  2. Securely connect your second display to your PC via HDMI (see your display instructions for details).
  3. Change the Display settings on your PC Control Panel to project your PC content to the second screen (see your PC instructions for details).
  4. Ensure your display is set to the correct HDMI source and that the HDMI is connected to the correct HDMI ports.
  5. Start the trailer from either the purchase confirmation screen in PlayStation Store or go to [My Videos] while signed in to PlayStation Store if you have closed the purchase confirmation screen.
  6. If your computer and/or display do not support HDCP, you will see this  message:

“HD streaming is not available for one of the connected displays. This video will continue in SD”.
