Error SU-42118-6 while updating to 6.0

I've booted in safe mode, done each of the steps. Still nothing, the same annoying error. I just want my system to work. I come home, turn it on, and now it's a brick. Any advice or suggestions? I've rebuilt the database, deleted the notifications, updated via safe mode. I'm frustrated and out of options. One post I read said that it was a broken blu-ray drive. I'm not too sure about that one though. I download most of my games and haven't used a disc in a long time. Plus, why would so many others be getting the error as well? I need help, please. PLAYSTATION help me.

Yes this is happening to me too. I called twice today and they told me to go out of my way to get a thumb drive to download the files, which I have done. That still did not work. When I called again they told me that it's a known issue and they are working on it. My ps4 is barely over a year old and I have spent a lot of time on it mostly with my friends. I would much appreciate this to be fixed or some other fix to be known and to help us

So, they admitted it's an issue they're going to fix? Did they say what was causing the issue? I appreciate the comment, by the way.

Same!! I woke up this morning (around 8:00am???) and I couldn’t find anything on this update only 5.5 but I’m relieved that I’m not the only one having the problem. Whenever I try to live chat they tell me they can’t process my request and now I’ve been on the phone on hold for (14mins which isn’t horrible) but no help at all. I left my ps4 uplugged all day while I was at work hoping maybe that would help. It didn’t. I tried all the old things the people with the 5.5 update problem had and didn’t work. I’ve tried about everything. My step dad said that this happen awhile back and it was down for almost four months??? I hope not but? Idk? I can’t find anything on this update but this thread. As of now my ps4 is gonna be used as a paperweight cause that’s all it can be used for. /: hopefully fixed soon.

They didn't say anything about knowing what it was. They told me the first time that they knew how to fix it (Which was a blatant lie) I say that because when i called again 3 hours later they stated thay they didn't realize the issue till 45 minutes from when i called at 11:20. So someone lied to me about the issue they didn't even know about. The 2nd call they told me they were coming up with a fix just to be patient. I'm running out of patience.

Just got off the phone with support. They told me it'd be a couple of days for a patch to fix the issue.

I rang them today and they said they had no advice to help me with this error I was told if it didn’t sort it self out after trying all options like restarting and rebuilding the database I should ring back tomorrow so is this definitely a problem there end and it’s not our ps4?

I’m on hold right now. So stupid. I had a hard day at school and I wanted to come home and just play my playstaion. All of my friends are having this same issue. Sony needs to fix this.

Okay so we both have literally the same exact issue. Which is weird because on another post i saw, that we would have to send in our ps4 to get it fixed someone official said this m But then you Tell me this? So who's telling the truth?

Disc drive would mess up an update? That doesn't seem right to me.

Not sure. I kept the ref. number though. We'll see. He didn't tell you any time table or anything like a patch at all?

She said the engineers are working on it right now and will fix it asap. Weird because my disc drive hasn't been working for awhile for no real reason. I just ignored it since i usually play digital. But now it seems to be an issue
