How to update the system software on your PS Portal 

  1. From the top right of your screen, swipe left to display the Quick Menu. 
  2. Go to Settings > System > System Software. 
  3. Select Update System Software.

  • Don’t download or install the update using data other than the official update file provided online by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Don’t download or install updates by methods other than those described in the documentation on PS Portal or on this website. If you download or install the update data from a different source, by a different method, or on a device that has been altered or modified in any way, the device might not operate properly and might not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions can void the system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Interactive Entertainment.  
  • Don’t install system software when the device does not have sufficient battery charge.  
  • Don’t turn off your PS Portal during the installation. Interrupting the installation can cause your PS Portal to be damaged.  
  • You might not be able to use some functions of PS Portal without first updating the system software on your device.

Updates to the system software, including security updates, will be released for your PlayStation™ Portal Remote Player from time to time which are necessary for the proper functioning of the remote player.

You will be notified about new system software updates if your remote player is connected to the internet. Alternatively, you can always revisit this page for the latest available updates.

SIE strongly recommends always installing the latest update as soon as possible after the update is released. Failure to do so might expose your remote player to security risks, prevent it from connecting to online services and/or might compromise the proper functioning of the remote player.
