PS4: Disc ejecting itself

If your PS4 randomly ejects discs, try these troubleshooting steps.

  1. Switch your PS4 off and on again
  • Switch off your PS4 [Power] > [Turn off PS4].
  • Unplug the power, HDMI cables and DS4 power cable.
  • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds until you hear two beeps.
  • After five minutes plug the system back in and switch it back on.
  1. Ensure that the latest system software update is installed on your PS4 system
  • To check the system software, go to [Settings] > [System Software Update].
  • Check out the PS4 System Software page and update to the latest version of the system software.
  1. Check the disc for scratches and dirt
  • Clean a scratched or dirty disc using a lint-free cleaning cloth made specifically for cleaning Blu-ray Discs or DVDs. These cloths are sold at computer software stores.
  • Clean the disc by wiping from the innermost circle out towards the edge in a straight line.
  • Using other materials such as a paper towel or T-shirt may scratch the disc and cause it not to function properly.
  1. Does the issue affect multiple discs?
  • Try playing different Blu-ray discs, DVDs and games on the PS4 system to find out if the problem occurs with other discs.
  • If the problem only occurs with one disc, the disc could be damaged.
  • If the problem occurs with all discs, there may be a fault with your PS4 system.
