An iconic cast

Meet the heroes and villains that all play a pivotal part in the very start of the Metal Gear Saga.

Naked Snake

The final apprentice of The Boss, he learned everything from her: combat, demolition and intelligence gathering, and even developed close quarters combat (CQC) with her. Given the task of rescuing the engineer Sokolov during the CIA's Virtuous Mission, he infiltrates Soviet territory alone in the world's first HALO jump.

Eva

A KGB agent who handles a motorcycle as well as she handles a gun. She offers support to Snake.

The Boss

A legendary hero who formed the Cobra Unit during World War II. Her unit's numerous accomplishments led the Allied powers to victory. After the war, the Cobras were disbanded, and she spent 10 years with Snake as his mentor. The Boss re-enters Snake's life to offer him support during the Virtuous Mission.

Volgin

A GRU colonel known in the West by the codename "Thunderbolt". A sadist with a penchant for torture, his body flows with ultra-high voltage electricity, which he unleashes in his attacks.

Ocelot

Commander of the GRU's elite Ocelot Unit. A quick draw who is so skilled with a gun he can ricochet bullets off objects to strike his targets. Challenging Snake multiple times, he ends up becoming heavily influenced by him.

Sokolov

The leading weapons developer in the East. Once a rocket engineer, Sokolov even contributed to the success of the first manned spaceflight, which was carried out by the Soviet Union. Though he had hoped to defect to the West, he was returned to the Soviet Union as part of a secret agreement to end the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Zero

Born in England, Zero's real name is David Oh. He is a major and the commander of the CIA special forces unit FOX and once served with The Boss in the UK's Special Air Service (SAS). Zero is the one in charge of both the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater.

Para-Medic

A member of the CIA special forces unit FOX. Qualified as a doctor, she manages Snake's physical condition and records his mission progress. In addition to giving medical advice over the radio, she enjoys talking about her favorite movies when recording Snake's progress.

Sigint

A member of the CIA special forces unit FOX. An engineer well-versed in various military technologies, Sigint's codename comes from "signals intelligence", a type of intelligence gathering performed by intercepting signals. Sigint even developed some of Snake's weapons and equipment himself and he discusses their capabilities and particulars over the radio.
