Getting started with PS Now

Everything you need to know to start playing on PS4 and Windows PC.


What you need

PS Now on PS4

PS Now is accessible via your PS4 home screen. You can join on your console, or via PlayStation Store on any device and begin downloading or streaming games on demand. You’ll need:

  • A PlayStation Network account with registered payment details
  • A DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller
  • An active PS Now subscription or seven-day free trial
  • An active broadband connection. We recommend 5mbps or higher

PS Now on PC

PS Now can be accessed from any compatible Windows PC, via the free app. You can join via the PC app, from PlayStation Store on any device, or sign-in with an existing PS Now subscription to start streaming games. You’ll need:

  • A PlayStation Network account with registered payment details
  • A DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller (with USB cable) or other compatible controller.
  • An active PS Now subscription or seven-day free trial
  • An active broadband connection. We recommend 5mbps or higher

  • What is PlayStation Now?

    PlayStation Now is a game subscription service that gives you access to more than 700 games. With PS Now you can stream PS4, PS3 and PS2 games instantly on PS4 and PC, and download hundreds of PS4 games to play on your PS4 console.

  • What devices are supported?

    PS Now is available on PS4 and Windows PC. All games can be streamed on PS4 and PC, and PS4 and PS2 games can be downloaded to play on your PS4 system. For Windows PC minimum specs click here

  • Can I play online multiplayer games with PS Now?

    For the majority of games, whether you’re streaming or have downloaded to your PS4, if it includes online multiplayer modes, you'll be able to access these just as you would if you owned the game on disc or download.

    You can play fellow PlayStation Now members as well as those playing disc or download versions of the game. An additional PS Plus membership is not required.


  • Will I have to download any additional apps or software to access PS Now?

    On PS4, no additional apps are required. PS Now is accessible via an icon on your home screen, or in the Applications tab of your library. You can also join via PlayStation Store.

    On PC, you will need to install the PS Now app to access the service. 

  • Can I play my PlayStation Now games on multiple devices?

    Yes – by signing in to PS Now with your PSN account on a different PS4 or PC, you can access your PS Now games, as well as your saved game progress from games you have streamed.

  • Will I earn Trophies from PS Now games?

    Yes. PS Now games have the same Trophy support as if the games were played from disc or download. Trophies will unlock as you play, sync to your PSN account and appear in your activity feed to be seen by other players on the PS4 dashboard.


Subscriptions and payments

  • How does the free trial work?

    All new customers are eligible for a seven day free trial, which which will roll over into an ongoing subscription, unless cancelled before the end of the trial period.

  • How do subscriptions work?

    When you join PS Now on either the free trial or one of the paid subscription plans, we will turn ON automatic funding in your account settings. This means that if you do not have enough funds in your PSN wallet to pay the recurring subscription fee, the required balance will be charged to the payment method registered to your account (if any) unless you turn off automatic funding. To turn off automatic funding, go to 'Account Settings', 'Wallet' then 'Wallet Settings'.

  • How do I cancel my PS Now subscription?

    You can cancel PS Now at any time, so that your subscription will expire at the end of the current billing period. We are unable to offer refunds for payments already made. Instructions on cancelling your subscription are available at

  • How much does PS Now cost?

    PS Now offers a choice of three payment plans: £8.99 per month, £22.99 every three months, or £49.99 per year.

    You can begin your subscription with a seven-day free trial, at the end of which you’ll automatically enter a rolling monthly membership unless you cancel, or upgrade to a different recurring membership plan. 


Streaming and downloading games

  • Should I stream or download?

    If you choose to stream a game, it will be streamed from our servers over your internet connection, just like streaming a movie, so you won’t have to download the game. The entire game library is available to play as and when you want. Games are streamed from our servers over your internet connection at a maximum resolution of 720p. Audio for streamed games is available in stereo only; surround sound is not supported. Save files for streamed games are stored in PS Now cloud storage.

    You can choose to download any of PS4 and PS2 games in the PS Now library to your PS4 console hard drive. You can then play that game locally, provided you connect to PSN every couple of days to validate your PS Now subscription. Games downloaded from PS Now will output at their native resolution on PS4 and PS4 Pro and support all DLC, microtransactions and any available PS VR modes, just if they had been downloaded via PlayStation Store. Save files for downloaded games are stored locally on your PS4 system.

    GTA Online will be  available from 14th October in the streamed version of the games, however Diamond Casino & Resort will not be available. GTA Online and Diamond Casino & Resort will be available with the downloaded version from launch

  • What kind of internet connection do I need to stream games from PS Now?

    As a minimum broadband speed, we recommend at least 5Mbps. We also recommend using a wired connection and limiting the use of other network connected devices to get the best experience.

  • How many games can I download from PS Now?

    There is no limit to the number of games you can download, as long as you have sufficient hard drive space.


PS Now on PC

PlayStation™Now (PS Now) subscription only available to account holders of PlayStation Network (PSN)  who are aged 18 and over with access to PlayStation®Store (PS Store) and high-speed internet (recommended min connection speed 5 Mbps).  

PS Store and PS Now subject to terms of use and country and language restrictions. Service availability is not guaranteed. For PS Now on PC, minimum system requirements apply and can be found at PS Now games may differ from or lack some of the features that can be found in downloaded or disc-based games.  Games included in PS Now are subject to change at any time. Online features of specific titles may be withdrawn on reasonable notice - payment method details required. PS Now subscription is an ongoing subscription with a recurring subscription fee which is charged every month (at the then current Store price). If eligible for a trial and you do not cancel your PlayStation Now trial prior to the end of your trial it will automatically roll into a paid-for ongoing subscription on that basis.  Current and/or previous PS Now subscribers/trialists are not eligible for a trial.
