Enter the world of Mobile Suit Gundam

Pilot giant robots across vast battlefields in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, released on PlayStation 3 in 2007, saw a shift in direction from previous Dynasty Warriors games, which were based around Luo Guanzhong's historical novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, detailing turbulent events surrounding the Han Dynasty in ancient China.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, like its predecessor, is based around the popular anime, Mobile Suit Gundam, which debuted on Japanese television in 1979. Set in a fictional world, it follows the war of independence of The Principality of Zeon and features giant robotic weapons called Gundam Suits, 62 of which you are able to control in this game.

Gameplay is a mixture of third-person action and strategy and takes place on vast battlefields swarming with hundreds of enemies. Using close-quarter and ranged attacks, you must wade through swarms of rival Gundam Suits to claim key territory or destroy a particularly strong opponent. By completing missions you can build up your character and find better parts for your Gundam Suit.

Official Mode follows the original Mobile Suit Gundam story from the perspective of its four main characters; Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, Kamille Bidan and Judau Ashta. All four of them are playable and each has their own Gundam Suit with unique attacks and abilities.

Mission Mode is a new feature, allowing you to undertake various missions as one of ten characters against the backdrop of an original story. Collection missions entail collecting Gundam Suit parts to boost your attacks; Friendship missions decide your relationships with the other characters, either strengthening friendships or intensifying rivalries; Story missions further the plot; and License missions allow you to train in new Gundam Suits and unlock them for the rest of the game.

For Mobile Suit Gundam fans, there's an extensive Gallery of character profiles, Mobile Suit data, movies and music to be unlocked as you progress. Here you'll also find all of your game statistics, such as how many missions you have completed and how many enemies you've destroyed.

There are three multiplayer modes that can be played either online or offline. In War, each player is given an objective that they receive points for completing; Sudden Death gives each player a limited amount of armour and charges them with destroying the other players while trying to survive themselves; and in Hunting Mode, players are split into Hunters and Targets, with the former charged with destroying the latter.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 carries a lot of the hallmarks of its popular ancestors, such as massive battles with hundreds of enemies on-screen at once. For Mobile Suit Gundam fans, this game is an authentic recreation of the hit anime in terms of look and mood, and for the uninitiated, it's a great all-round action game.
