How innovative PS5 features enhance play

Adaptive triggers

Dynamic resistance mimics the tension of interactions with in‑game gear and objects in select PS5™ games.

Haptic feedback

Responsive vibrations react to your in‑game choices and simulate environmental factors in select PS5 games.

3D Audio

From the distant calls of teammates, to the nearby approach of sneaking predators, your surroundings come alive with Tempest 3D Audio via TV speakers or analogue, or USB stereo headphones in supported game. Set up and latest system software update required.

Ultra-high-speed SSD

Maximise your play sessions with near-instant load times for installed PS5 games, while integrated I/O lets creators pull data from the SSD so quickly that they can design games in ways never before possible.

PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player

Play your PS5 console over your home Wi-Fi with console quality controls using PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player1.

External USB drive compatibility

PS5 consoles can store compatible PS4 and PS5 games to USB drives that support SuperSpeed USB*. That means you can save space on the internal Ultra-High Speed SSD, and save time by reinstalling PS5 games from the external USB drive, instead of redownloading them or installing from a disc.

When you’re ready to play a PS5 game that’s on an external USB drive, simply transfer the game back to the internal SSD via the Options Menu within the Library. You can play PS4 games directly from an external USB drive, or from the internal SSD.

*Minimum of 250 GB and maximum of 8 TB capacity.
