Like a Dragon: Ishin! staví na svém předchůdci z roku 2014 určeném pouze pro japonský trh a přichází s lokalizací, zbrusu novým obsahem, dokonale remasterovanou grafikou a vylepšenými možnostmi pro moderní platformy, jež pohání výkonný Unreal Engine 4.

Kjóto v 60. letech 19. století sužuje všeobecná nerovnost – jediný samuraj zde pak při hledání spravedlnosti dokáže změnit běh dějin. 

Chop se v roli Sakamoty Ryomy meče, vydej se do Kjóta a najdi vraha svého otce, očisti sebe sama od obvinění z vraždy a obnov svou čest. Tím zároveň ukončíš éru samurajů a navždy změníš budoucnost Japonska.
