How to check for updates on PS5 consoles and PS4 consoles

Make sure that you update your games and apps to their latest versions to experience new features and improved performance.

PlayStation®5 console: Update application

When you start a game or app, it automatically updates to the newest version available.

Highlight a game thumbnail in your games home and press the options button to display the options menu.
Select Check for Update.
If an update is available, follow the instructions to install the update.

You can also use this menu to manage saved data, game data and add-ons.

Go to Library and highlight the game that you want to update.
Press the OPTIONS button and select Check for Update.
If an update is available, follow the instructions to install the update.

PS5™ console: Check system software

Go to Settings > System > System Software > Console Information.
Check under the system software version. "Up to date" is shown if you have the latest version installed.

This menu also shows you your PS5 console name, IP Address and MAC Address.

This menu also shows you your PS4 console name, IP Address and MAC Address.
