Under our Terms of Service, you and our other users are required to comply with our Code of Conduct. As such, we may monitor, review and record your online activities, communications (including messages, images, videos and voice communications) and content throughout our Services for the purposes of assessing whether these activities, communications, and content comply with our Terms of Service, our Code of Conduct, and any other terms or rules applicable to your use of our Services (together, "Terms”) or applicable law. We may remove or delete any of your communications and content that breach the Terms or applicable law, take action on your account or device, and share these communications or content in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Advertising and Analytics
Subject to your Account settings, we may target and personalize our marketing communications and advertisements (including those displayed on our Services and third party websites and services) based on the PI we have collected about you. You may notice this personalization on the PlayStation Store (whether via console, our website, or in-game), in marketing communications, or when you visit our and third party websites (such as social network sites) that show advertisements from us. We may also use this data to measure the performance of our websites, advertisements, and marketing campaigns, to understand how they can be improved and to pay or be paid for the placing of advertisements. You have options to control our use of PI to personalize marketing and advertising in your Account settings and can learn more about them in the Choices and Rights section of this Privacy Policy.

When you create an Account, certain PI will form part of your public profile and we will make it accessible to all Accounts on PlayStation, on the internet via playstation.com, and some third party websites, apps or services, including other gaming services and sites in games where cross-platform play is enabled. This PI includes:
- Your PlayStation online ID;

Personal Information Handling
Children’s Personal Information
If you are below the age of majority in your country or region, your parent or legal guardian (“Responsible Adult”) must create your Account for you. Your Account is called a “Child Family Member Account”, and your Responsible Adult’s Account is called a “Family Manager Account”. The Family Manager Account can control your experience including what PI you make available to other users, who you can chat to, and what games you can play. You can find more information on https://www.playstation.com/support/account/playstation-family-account-set-up/.
Please ask your Responsible Adult to explain anything in this Privacy Policy you do not understand. You can also read our Privacy Information for Young Players to help you understand how we use your PI and your privacy rights over your PI.
If you are a Responsible Adult you will need to create an account for PlayStation before you can create a Child Family Member Account. Using your Family Manager Account, you can set a range of Parental Controls for any Child Family Member Accounts that you are responsible for. You can also invite other adults to join. You can also use the PlayStation Family App to manage your child or children’s account(s). Please find more information at https://www.playstation.com/ps-family-app/.
If you are a Responsible Adult creating a Child Family Member Account, we recommend that you and your child read our Privacy Information for Young Players to help you and your child understand how we handle their PI and their rights. You can find child friendly privacy information on PlayStation 5 at [Settings] > [Guide & Tips, Health & Safety, and Other Information] > [Legal Information] > [Other Documents] > [Privacy Information for Young Players], or on our website at: https://www.playstation.com/legal/privacy-information-for-young-players/
We will collect, use, and share PI collected from or about children in accordance with the practices described in this Privacy Policy, with the following exceptions:
- A Responsible Adult needs to provide limited PI about their child (name, email address, and date of birth) to create a Child Family Member Account.
- A child can only add an address to their Child Family Member Account with the Responsible Adult’s approval.
PI You May Choose to Share
- A Responsible Adult can control their child's ability to use (and share PI through) text chat, voice chat, video chat, and other messaging features to communicate directly with other users in games, apps or via system software features through the “Communication and User-Generated Content” setting on the Child Family Member Account.
- Please note that a Child Family Member Account can still: (a) send and receive predetermined text messages created by a game or app; (b) create and see other users' in-game character names, designs, and clan titles; and (c) use communication services via an Internet browser unless it isn’t required for our Services or specifically disabled.
- A Responsible Adult can control their child's ability to post or view user-generated content, including photos, videos, drawings, and content imported from outside sources (any of which might contain PI) through the “Communication and User-Generated Content” setting. This will not prevent video capture of a child Family Member Account user's online gameplay.
- A Responsible Adult can agree to our collection and use of their child's PI without consenting to our disclosure to third parties, except when the disclosure is inherent to our Services.
When a Responsible Adult allows a Child Family Member Account to participate in games, chat or user-generated content features, they also allow or consent to SIE sharing PI with the publishers of the games, applications, or services that incorporate those features and the collection of PI entered into such features by the Child Family Member Account (e.g., typing text into the chat feature).
If you discover your child under the age of majority in your country or region has created an adult Account, once we verify you are the child's Responsible Adult parent, we can give access and control of the child’s account to you or, depending on your country and region, convert the adult Account into a Child Family Member Account.
If you live in the Americas, we may notify the Family Manager Account if we assess that the activities of the child operating the Child Family Member Account have breached our Code of Conduct.
International Transfers
Our Services operate in many countries, areas, and regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan, which means that we collect, process and store your PI globally and authorities in these countries may, in certain circumstances, be entitled to access your PI. Privacy laws in some of these countries may not offer the same level of protection as those in the country or region you reside in or are a citizen of. We ensure there are adequate safeguards in place when transferring your PI outside your country including by entering into contracts with the recipients that incorporate the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses and UK Addendum or other relevant transfer mechanism and require that the transfer only occurs where permitted by applicable law. By using our Services, you acknowledge the transfer, processing, and storage of your PI to or in these countries.
Security
We maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures that conform to industry standards to help protect your PI against unauthorised or accidental disclosure, access, misuse, loss, or alteration. Although we strive to protect your PI, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such PI. We recommend you take steps to protect your PI, including:
- Use the enhanced account access controls that we make available such as 2-Step Verification and passkey.
- Keep any passwords and passcodes for your devices and accounts safe and do not disclose them to anyone else. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.
- Consider disabling automatic Account log-in and setting up a password at checkout, particularly if your PlayStation device is shared with others.
- ontact PlayStation Support immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your Account or other security incidents.
Please visit www.playstation.com and/or contact PlayStation Support if you need any assistance in restricting access to your devices or accounts.
Retention
We retain PI about you as long as it is necessary for us to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. In addition, we retain your PI as long as is permitted or required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Where required by applicable law, we will delete your PI when it is no longer necessary. Even if we delete your PI from active databases, your PI may remain on backup or archival media as well as other information systems.
