Extra storage for PS5 and PS4 consoles

Add even more space for games, video clips and more with external and internal storage solutions for your console.

Take advantage of extra storage for your consoles

With the PS5 console's M.2 SSD compatibility, and external USB drive compatibility for both PS5 and PS4, you can manage your game collection with ease.

Extra storage for PS5 with M.2 SSD

Upgrade the storage capacity of your PS5™ console up to 4TB by installing a compatible M.2 solid state drive.

You can now play your PS5 and PS4™ games and media apps directly from the high-speed SSD expansion, which you can also use to store, download and manage this content.

Important: before installing a compatible M.2 solid state drive, you should review the minimum performance and size requirements here, and install the latest system software update to your PS5™ console.

Extra storage for PS5 and PS4 with external USB drives

PS5 consoles can store compatible PS4 and PS5 games to USB drives that support SuperSpeed USB*. That means you can save space on the internal Ultra-High Speed SSD, and save time by reinstalling PS5 games from the external USB drive, instead of redownloading them or installing from a disc.

When you’re ready to play a PS5 game that’s on an external USB drive, simply transfer the game back to the internal SSD via the Options Menu within the Library. You can play PS4 games directly from an external USB drive, or from the internal SSD.

Additionally, PS4 consoles can store and play PS4 games directly from an external USB drive.

*Minimum of 250 GB and maximum of 8 TB capacity.
