Learn how to free up space on your PlayStation®5 console storage, store games on USB extended storage, and move game saved data using PlayStation®Plus cloud storage.
Game and saved data, as well as other data, is stored on the built-in storage on your PS5™ console. If you don't have room on your console storage, you can either delete data that's already there or move data to one of the following storage spaces:
USB Extended storage
You can format a commercially available USB drive as USB extended storage and use it with your PS5 console.
M.2 SSD storage
You can install a commercially available M.2 SSD that meets the required specifications to your PS5 console.
PlayStation®Plus members can use storage in the cloud.
You can use a commercially available USB drive that's formatted to FAT or exFAT (but not as USB extended storage) to store files like screenshots and PS4 saved data. Not all devices work with your console.

To free up your storage space, delete existing data, or move data to a different location:
If you don't want to delete the existing games in your PS5 console storage, you can move them to USB extended storage.
If you don't want to delete the existing games in your PS5 console storage, you can move them to M.2 SSD storage.
Don't worry, you won't lose access to any deleted games or applications — you can re-download your purchases from your game library whenever you like.
Go to Settings > Storage > Games and Apps.
Select the data you want to get rid of and select Delete.
You can also manage PS5 console storage if you link your PS5 console to PlayStation App on your iOS or Android device.
