Call of Duty multiplayer glossary

Don't know your attachments from your accessories? Here are the essential terms you need to talk fluent Call of Duty multiplayer.

Killstreaks are earned by getting multiple kills without dying in a game. Upon death, progress toward earning Killstreaks is reset. These powerful tools reward skilled players with the opportunity to turn the tide of battle if used wisely. An Operator is deployed into battle with up to three Killstreaks.

In Gunsmith, players will gain Weapon XP to unlock attachments for a specific weapon and its associated Weapons Platform, in addition to gaining alternative progression routes.

You can choose from familiar attachment options like the Barrel, Muzzle, Magazine, Optic, Laser, Rear Grip and more to create the optimal version of each weapon, depending on your playstyle.

A weapon blueprint is variant of a weapon family within Call of Duty. Weapon blueprints have different names than the base weapon in that family, or other weapon blueprints. Blueprints also can have cosmetic differences, and may come pre-equipped with attachments.

These attachments are given to you on this specific blueprint without needing to level up the weapon to earn them. This way you can utilize specific cool attachments before you earn them by levelling up. You can still earn all weapon attachments organically and swap out – or add – attachments to weapon blueprints that are earned organically through levelling up that weapon.

In other words, weapon blueprints look cool and offer a few attachments you may not already have for that weapon, but can still earn in the long run.

Prior to a Multiplayer match, the Weapons menu allows you to select, edit and save up to ten customized Loadouts: selections of armaments and equipment. This is generally the same as the legacy term "Create-a-Class".

The Player Level journey doesn’t stop at Rank 55.

After earning enough Player XP to ascend past Commander within the Military Ranks, you will enter the Prestige Ranks, a Season Level system meant to recognize the community’s most skilled and determined players.

Operators are selectable playable characters within Call of Duty. In both Multiplayer and Call of Duty: Warzone modes, you can choose your unique operator and equip them as you deploy to combat. Operators can be customized via specific operator skins that offer a range of novel appearances.

Within the Call of Duty ecosystem there are a variety of accessories that players can equip to customize their Operator and in-game experience, including Camos, Weapon Charms, Weapon Stickers, Emblems, Loading Screens and more. These accessories are obtained via challenges, in-game gifts, bundles and promotional events. Be on the lookout to get some of the most exclusive accessories and don't miss out on the limited time offerings.

XP is the short name for experience points. XP is used in various locations to rank up within Call of Duty. There are several forms of XP ranging from Player, Weapon and Battle Pass XP.

XP is earned in matches and by completing set challenges. Additionally, there are XP tokens that boost the amount of XP that a player would normally receive. These XP tokens are obtained via various methods both in-game and out of game.

Everyday players who yearn for more can rise through Ranked Play to play like - and compete against - the pros.
