How to reset your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller

If you’re having issues with your controller, often the first troubleshooting step is to reset your controller.

  1. Turn off and unplug your PlayStation®4 console.
  2. Disconnect the DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controller from the official USB cable.
  3. On the back of your controller, you will find a tiny hole – the reset button is inside this hole.
  4. Use a small, unfolded paper clip (or something similar) to press and hold the reset button for at least five seconds.
  5. Your controller should now have been reset.
  6. Connect your controller to the PS4 console using the official USB cable.
  7. Connect to a USB port on the front (or rear) of the PS4 console.
  8. Press the PS button to pair your controller with the PS4 console.
