Learn how to set up YouTube on PlayStation®5 consoles and PlayStation®4 consoles so you can watch videos and share content with your friends and followers.
Open the YouTube app and select Sign in.
Sign in with your Google account when you're asked to. If you have more than one Google account, be sure to select the account that you use with YouTube.
After signing in, a list of Google identities associated with your account may be shown. Be sure to choose the account that's linked to your YouTube channel.
You can broadcast and share gameplay from your PS5 console or PS4 console to YouTube and other streaming services.
Make sure the app is up to date. Highlight the YouTube app and press the options button, and then select Check for Updates.
Start the YouTube app and select a 360° video to watch. If your console detects that your PS VR headset is connected and powered up, you'll usually be prompted to select a mode:
Normal: You can watch normal videos in Cinematic mode.
VR: You can watch 360° videos.
When watching 360° videos, both the left and right joysticks on the attached controller can be used to pan around the video. Go to youtube.com to browse the current selection of 360° videos.
If you want to watch YouTube videos in 4K, you'll need:
A PS5 console or PlayStation®4 Pro console set up for 4K image quality.
An Ultra HD or 4K display device.
A steady Internet connection of at least 25 Mbps.
Once a 4K video is selected, the console will automatically stream the content in 4K resolution. If you want to make sure you're streaming in 4K, in the YouTube app go to Settings > Show Video Info > Enabled.
A 4K video normally has 3840 x 2160 resolution, so if you see these values, you are streaming in 4K quality. Picture quality also depends on the video you are streaming.
