How to connect your PS Link device with your PS Portal

Find out how to pair and connect the following PlayStation Link™ devices to your PlayStation Portal™ remote player.

How to pair and connect your wireless headset with PS Portal 

When you first use your PULSE Elite™ wireless headset with your PS Portal, you need to pair them. Make sure you’ve completed initial setup of your PS Portal before pairing. 

  1. Turn on your PS Portal.
  2. Press and hold the PlayStation Link™ button on your headset, and release it when the status indicator on your headset quickly blinks blue (approximately 8 seconds).
    Your headset is in pairing mode when the indicator quickly blinks blue. 
  1. Press the PS Link button on your PS Portal.
    When paired and connected, the indicator on your headset turns solid blue and your PS Portal shows a connected state. 
  • After pairing to your PS Portal, your headset also searches for any paired Bluetooth devices that are ready to connect. The indicator on the headset slowly blinks from light to dark for a few seconds while searching. You can connect your mobile device to your headset at this time to listen to audio from both devices simultaneously. 
  • Your headset remains in pairing mode for up to 30 seconds. If it doesn’t find an available connection, the headset turns off. Press and hold the PS Link button on your headset for approximately 8 seconds to begin pairing mode again.

How to pair and connect wireless earbuds with PS Portal 

When you first use your PULSE Explore™ wireless earbuds with your PS Portal, you need to pair them. Make sure you’ve completed initial setup of your PS Portal before pairing. 

  1. Turn on your PS Portal.
  2. Make sure both of your earbuds are in the charging case.
  3. Press and hold the PlayStation Link™ button on the case and release it when the status indicator on the case quickly blinks blue (approximately 8 seconds). Your earbuds are in pairing mode when the indicator quickly blinks blue.
  1. Press the PS Link button on your PS Portal.
    When paired and connected, the indicator on the case turns solid blue and your PS Portal shows a connected state.
  • After pairing to your PS Portal, your earbuds also search for any paired Bluetooth devices that are ready to connect. The indicator on the case slowly blinks from light to dark for a few seconds while searching. You can connect your mobile device to your earbuds at this time to listen to audio from both devices simultaneously. 
  • Your earbuds remain in pairing mode for up to 30 seconds. If they don’t find an available connection, the earbuds turn off. Press and hold the PS Link button on your case for approximately 8 seconds to begin pairing mode again.

How to switch audio connections between your PS5 console and your PS Portal

When you are using your PS Link device on the PlayStation®5 console and you want to switch to audio on your PlayStation Portal remote player (or vice versa), follow these steps to switch the PlayStation Link connections. 

Switch connections on your wireless headset

Make sure your PULSE Elite wireless headset has been paired to both your PS5® console and your PS Portal.

  1. Make sure your PS Portal is on. 
  2. Press and hold the PS Link button on your headset, and release it when the status indicator on your headset blinks white (for approximately 2 seconds). The indicator slowly blinks from light to dark while searching for a previously paired connection. 
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions when a PS Link Device Nearby notification appears on the screen of your PS Portal.
    When connected, the indicator on your headset turns solid blue and your PS Portal shows a connected state. 
  • If your PS Portal is turned off when you try to switch connections, your headset won’t connect to it. Your headset connects back to your console. 
  • If the notification doesn’t appear on-screen, press the PS Link button on your PS Portal. 
  1. Make sure your PS5 console is on and the PlayStation Link™ USB adapter is inserted into your console. 
  2. Press and hold the PS Link button on your headset for approximately 2 seconds, and release it when the status indicator on your headset blinks white.
    The indicator slowly blinks from light to dark while searching for a previously paired connection. 
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions when a PS Link Device Nearby notification appears on the screen connected to your console.
    When connected, the indicator on your headset turns solid blue and the indicator on the adapter turns solid white.
  • If your PS5 console is turned off when you try to switch connections, your headset won’t connect to it. Your headset connects back to your PS Portal. 
  • If the notification doesn’t appear on-screen, press the PS Link button on your adapter. 

How to switch connections on your wireless earbuds

Make sure your PULSE Explore earbuds have been paired to both your PS5 console and your PS Portal. 

  1. Make sure your PS Portal is on. 
  2. Press and hold the PS Link button on your earbud for approximately 2 seconds.
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions when a PS Link Device Nearby notification appears on the screen of your PS Portal.
    When connected, your PS Portal shows a connected state.
  • If your PS Portal is turned off when you try to switch connections, your earbuds won’t connect to it. Your earbuds connect back to your console. 
  • If the notification doesn’t appear on-screen, press the PS Link button on your PS Portal. 
  1. Make sure your PS5 console is on and the PlayStation Link™ USB adapter is inserted into your console. 
  2. Press and hold the PS Link button on your earbud for approximately 2 seconds. 
  1. Follow the on-screen instructions when a PS Link Device Nearby notification appears on the screen connected to your console.
    When connected, the indicator on the adapter turns solid white.
  • If your PS5 console is turned off when you try to switch connections, your earbuds won’t connect to it. Your earbuds connect back to your PS Portal. 
  • If the notification doesn’t appear on-screen, press the PS Link button on your USB adapter. 
  • You can connect and listen to only one PS Link connection at a time when your earbuds are paired to both a USB adapter and your PS Portal.
  • You can control the volume from your PS Link device, your console, or your PS Portal.
