How can I stay safe on PlayStation?

PlayStation is designed to be a safe and enjoyable place for all players. To ensure that your experience is as safe as possible, please follow these PlayStation Safety guidelines:

Customise your privacy settings

Control your privacy by customising your privacy settings through Account Management on the web. You can set preferences for the following controls:

  • Who can send you invitations to play online
  • Who can see your list of trophies
  • Who can send you messages
  • Who can send you friend requests
  • Who can send you voice and chat invitations

If you’re a child member of a family, your family manager may manage which privacy settings you can change. Parents and guardians can also see your activity on PlayStation if they use the PlayStation Family app.

Be mindful about what you post

You can connect with other players in many ways through messaging, voice chat, and sharing content like photos and videos.

You should not expose information such as your address, phone number or other personal details. Sharing these details increases your risk of identity theft, stalking and harassment. Make sure everything you post is okay for anyone to see.

Block players you'd prefer not to interact with

You don’t have to interact with someone that makes you feel uncomfortable. You can block them, which means you won’t see their posts and they won’t be able to message you or join your party.

Report inappropriate content on PlayStation Network

If you see players sharing content that breaches our Code of Conduct, report it using our reporting feature.

Moderators review each report to determine whether the Code of Conduct has been breached. If a breach has occurred, we remove the content and take appropriate action against the offender.

Report online harm to eSafety Commissioner

The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety) is Australia’s independent regulator for online safety. 

eSafety helps Australians prevent and deal with harm caused by serious online abuse or illegal and restricted online content.  You have the right to report abuse or harmful content to the regulator including unsolicited messages promoting such content.
