  • When you downgrade your membership level, the downgrade will take place on your next payment date. Once the downgrading is complete, you lose access to the benefits exclusive to your previous subscription membership plan.
  • When you upgrade you are charged a pro-rated fee to level up the time remaining until your next payment date to the desired level. Then on your next payment date, you will be charged for the standard price of the membership plan level that you upgraded to at your current payment frequency. For example, if you paid for 12 months of membership 6 months ago and have 6 months left, you will need to pay a pro-rated upgrade fee to upgrade your remaining 6 months to the desired plan level.
  • If you’ve purchased multiple “stacked” subscriptions, you'll need to upgrade all of your subscription time at once and your upgrade fee will reflect the length of subscription time you are upgrading, so you may see larger upgrade charges.
  • Active subscriptions can be canceled up until the next payment date. You can find the payment dates for each of your subscriptions in the Subscriptions Management section of Account Management.
  • The subscription will be activated each time you sign up. If you cancel a subscription and then resubscribe, the subscription will be reactivated.

Your current plan is a 12-month PlayStation Plus Essential subscription. You purchased the plan 6 months ago on PlayStation Store for the standard price of $79.99*. You have half a year until your next payment date.

You decide you want to upgrade your membership plan to PlayStation Plus Premium. The standard price for Premium is $159.99 a year.

The upgrade fee is calculated by subtracting the Essential price from the Premium price:
$159.99 - $79.99 = $80.

The upgrade fee is then divided by how much of the subscription remains until the next scheduled payment date. In this case, there is half a year remaining, so $80 / 2 = $40 charge.
