Learn how to troubleshoot common voice chat issues on PS4 consoles.
If you are having trouble with voice chat, try adjusting the following settings.
Go to Settings > Devices > Audio Devices > Output Devices.
The setting Headset Connected to Controller is displayed only when a headset is connected to your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller.
Due to the PS4 specifications, voice chat and game audio cannot be output to both the headset and TV.
If the microphone is working, the Input Volume bar will respond.
If the input volume meter does not respond, try a different headset or controller. If audio cannot be exchanged with a specific device, it is possible that the device has a problem. If your PlayStation device is within the warranty period, contact us.
If you suddenly lose your connection while using party voice chat, it may be due to your Internet connection. Please try these troubleshooting steps.
If the speaker or microphone icon flashes during party voice chat and you can't communicate with your friends, it's possible that this is linked to your Internet connection. Please try these troubleshooting steps.
If you are wirelessly connected to the Internet, switch to a wired connection to see if there is an improvement.
Turn off the PS4 and your Internet device (modem, router) and try restarting.
Speak to your Internet service provider and ask them how you can open the following PSN ports on your router:
TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
UDP: 3478, 3479
Please try the following troubleshooting methods for each device.
Please try reconnecting the device.
Make sure that the headset MIC switch is not set to the "OFF" side.
Please try reconnecting the device.
If you have another wireless controller, please try connecting the headset to another controller.
