“Fund Wallet Automatically” and “Auto-Renew” settings guide

Find out which settings are available when managing a PlayStation subscription.

When you visit Account Management online or access the Settings menu on a PlayStation®4 console, there are two settings that affect funding for purchases:

Both settings are used to manage your payments and you need both of them to be turned on for automatic payments to be taken for your subscriptions.

Subscription Auto-Renew setting

This setting applies to each subscription individually and can be managed from Account Management, and your PlayStation consoles. Turning off auto-renew for a subscription means that you will not be charged on the next payment date.

Automatically Add Funds setting

This setting can be accessed through the Account Management Payment Methods menu, or on PS4™ consoles by selecting the Fund Wallet Automatically option from the Purchase Settings menu. With this option active, your primary payment option is automatically charged when a subscription with auto-renew turned on reaches its payment date. If you have funds in your wallet, they will be used before your payment method is charged.

  • Turning off Automatically Add Funds turns off automatic payments for all subscriptions at the same time.
  • The Automatically Add Funds setting will be activated each time you sign up for an ongoing subscription. If you cancel a subscription and then resubscribe, the Automatically Add Funds setting will be reactivated.
  1. Sign in to Account Management and select Payment Method.
  2. Turn Automatically Add Funds to Renew Subscriptions or Pay for Pre-Ordered Content on or off.
  1. Go to Settings > Account Management.
  2. Select Account Information > Purchase Settings.
  3. Select yes or no next to Fund Wallet Automatically.

Frequently asked questions

If I turn on “Fund Wallet Automatically” but turn off “Auto-Renew”, will I be charged on my next payment date?

Do these settings affect child accounts and their spending limits?
For child accounts, auto funding as described above will not work and the subscription will not automatically continue unless you have access to sufficient wallet funds and you are within the monthly spending limits set up by your Family Manager/Guardian. You can still cancel your subscription by turning off Auto-renewal as described above.
