Important notices regarding PlayStation® products and services

Discontinued PlayStation apps, features and services

Find out which features are no longer available on your PlayStation console.

Note: The information on this page may be updated so please check back periodically for new updates.

After 31st August 2021, we will no longer sell or rent movie and TV content on PlayStation™Store. Please see the information below on how you can still access movie and TV content that you have previously acquired through PlayStation Store for on-demand playback.

PlayStation®5:

1. Go to the Media section on PS5 

2. Select All Apps on the left-hand side

3. Find and select "My Videos" (Look for the PlayStation Video logo) 

4. Download and Open to get access to your Movies and TV Shows!

PlayStation®4:

1. Go to the TV & Video section on PlayStation Store

2. Find and select "My Videos" on the top navigation 

3. From here, you can access your movies and TV Shows!

iOS/Android App: 

1. Open the menu on the top left-hand side 

2. Find and select "My Videos" on the menu 

3. From here, you can access your movies and TV Shows!

BRAVIA/Smart TV App:

1. Log in to the PS Video app 

2. Go to the My Videos section to access your movies and TV shows!

What does this mean for you?
When the PlayStation®Store for PlayStation®Portable (PSP) was previously closed in 2016, you were still able to perform searches and make in-game purchases. Starting 6th July, 2021, you'll no longer be able to perform searches or make in-game purchases.

What about PSP content that you already own?
You'll still be able to download your previously purchased PSP content. You can download your previously purchased PSP content onto your PSP by accessing the Download List on the device.

What about PSP content that is available for purchase on the PS3 and PS Vita stores?
You'll still be able to purchase and play PSP content that is available on the PS3 and PS Vita stores. However, you'll no longer be able to make purchases via the in-game store for PSP content.  

As of 28th June 2021, the web feature MyPlayStation will no longer be supported. You can continue to access your Game Library, Parties, Friends, Trophies, Profile information on your PS4 and PS5 consoles, or via mobile on PS App. The Profile and Game Library information will also be available via the web on the profile menu dropdown

As of 28th June 2021*, users on PlayStation Vita will no longer be able to use the messaging service. Although messaging on PS Vita is going away, your messages will still be available to you by using the messaging service on PS5 consoles, PS4 consoles and via mobile on PlayStation App.

*Termination will start on 28th June 2021; actual date of the termination may differ by region.

Thank you for using the PS Communities feature on your PS4 console. Beginning in April 2021, this feature will no longer be supported or available on your PS4 console.

However, you'll still be able to stay connected and enjoy messaging features and more on your PS4 and the PlayStation App.

As of 19th October, 2020:

  • You will no longer be able to purchase PS3, PSP and PS Vita content, themes or avatars on our web or mobile stores. However, you can still purchase PS3, PSP or PS Vita content on their respective devices.
  • We will also be discontinuing the Wishlist and all items currently on Your Wishlist will be deleted.

Existing PlayStation Plus subscriptions will not be affected by these changes. You will continue to be able to access and download all of your existing PlayStation Plus content.

Additionally, you will still be able to access your already purchased content from your respective devices. 

As of 14th October 2020, the PlayStation Messages app for mobile devices has been integrated with the PS App and will no longer be available separately. Please download the PS App for Apple or Android devices to continue sending messages to your friends.

As of 14/10/2020 creation of Events is no longer available. You will not be able to create new Events, receive user scheduled events notifications or access your scheduled Events.

You will no longer be able to create a community accessible per "Request Only". All new communities will be available to all users. Set up a party to communicate with your friends.

The Play Together feature will no longer be available. You will not be able to start a Play Together session from Party screen. You can continue creating parties, and talking to your friends through the Party.

Sub account creation and account upgrade features are no longer available on PlayStation 3, PS Vita and PSP. You can continue to create and upgrade child accounts on PS4 and on the web.

Pluto TV is no longer available on PlayStation 3.

Twitch is no longer available on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita.

As of 30th June, 2020*, PlayStation 3 users will no longer be able to send or receive messages from other PlayStation platforms and services, namely PlayStation®4 (PS4), PlayStation® Messages app, My PlayStation® and PlayStation®Vita. Please note:

  • PS3 Game Alerts will no longer be shown on PS4 or PlayStation Messages app.
  • PS3 users will be able to continue to use the messages feature with other PS3 users.
  • PS4, PS Vita, PlayStation Messages app and My PlayStation users will be able to continue to use the messages feature.

On 17th March 2020, Sony Interactive Entertainment will terminate the PlayStation Communities app provided for iOS/Android devices.

Ustream features are no longer available on the PS4 system and Live from PlayStation:

  • Broadcasting gameplay to Ustream.
  • Viewing Ustream broadcasts from "Live from PlayStation" on the PS4 system, PlayStation App and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita). 

Players can broadcast gameplay via YouTube, Twitch and dailymotion and enjoy viewing these broadcasts via Live from PlayStation.

Starting on 7th October 2019, Facebook integration will no longer be supported on the PS4 system. This includes Facebook's share features such as posting gameplay and trophy activity and using the friend finder feature. We apologise for any inconvenience.

As of January 2018 the Media Go application is no longer available to download. Users who have the application installed will still be able to use it and access the support website, but the software is no longer supported and will not be available to redownload should you delete it.

  • Facebook application
  • Skype application

As of April 2017, the PlayStation™Video service (formerly known as Video Unlimited) has been discontinued on selected Sony BRAVIA TVs and video and audio products released in 2013 and earlier.

Please contact Sony if you require more details on models which will be affected.

From September 2015, the Games on the PlayStation Mobile app will be discontinued.
