How to use DualSense Edge wireless controllers with PC, Mac, and mobile devices

Connect your DualSense Edge™ wireless controller using a USB Type-C® cable or Bluetooth® technology and play on more devices including Windows PC and Mac® computers, Android and iOS mobile phones.

DualSense Edge wireless controller compatible devices

Devices using the operating systems listed below or later support DualSense Edge wireless controller Bluetooth and USB connections. Once connected, you can use your wireless controller with compatible games and applications.

Depending on the device, certain features of the controller might not be available.

  • The adaptive triggers feature is available when supported by the game. It isn’t compatible with Android-based mobile devices.
  • The haptic feedback feature is available when supported by the game and may require a USB connection on PC. It isn’t compatible with Mac computers and mobile devices.
  • The built-in microphone and speaker are available on Windows PC when supported by the game. They aren’t compatible with Mac and mobile devices.
  • The headset jack feature requires a wired connection with PC and Mac. It isn't compatible with mobile devices.

How to pair your DualSense Edge wireless controller with a supported device

When using your controller on a device for the first time, you must pair it. If a USB cable is connected to the controller, disconnect it.

  1. Make sure the light bar and player indicator on your controller are off. If they're turned on, press and hold the PS button until they turn off.
  2. While pressing and holding the create button, press and hold the PS button until the light bar blinks.
  3. Enable Bluetooth® on your device. Select the option to add Bluetooth® devices. Your device detects nearby Bluetooth® devices.
  4. When pairing is complete, the light bar blinks, and then the player indicator lights up.
  • Each time you change devices, you must pair the controller with the new device.

How to pair your DualSense Edge wireless controller with multiple devices

You can have up to four different pairings registered to one controller, and each pairing is assigned a slot.

If a USB cable is connected to your controller, disconnect it. Make sure that your controller’s player indicator and light bar are off before you start pairing.

  1. Press and hold one of the action buttons and the PS button for over 5 seconds. The light bar and player indicator flash two times.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your device, and select the option to add Bluetooth devices.
  3. Select your controller from the list of detected Bluetooth devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

  1. While pressing and holding the create button, press and hold the PS button for at least 3 seconds. The light bar and player indicator flash two times.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on your device and select the option to add Bluetooth devices.
  3. Select your controller from the list of detected devices. The light bar lights up, and the player indicator’s lights blink according to the slot number.

  • If all slots are in use, the slot you haven’t connected to for the longest time gets replaced.

When you press a button corresponding to a slot, you switch to controlling the device assigned to the slot. You can do this when the controller is turned on or off.

  1. Turn on the device that you want to connect to.
  2. Press and hold one of the action buttons and the PS button for about 3 seconds. When the light bar and player indicator blink, release both buttons.
    The light bar lights up, and the player indicator's lights blink according to the slot number.

How to connect a DualSense Edge wireless controller to a supported device using USB

You can connect your controller to a supported device using a USB cable with a Type-C connector.

  • If the USB cable is removed, your controller disconnects and then turns off.

How to update DualSense Edge wireless controller device software on PC

You can use a PC to update your DualSense Edge controller software. Download PlayStation®Accessories to update your controller.

DualSense Edge wireless controller compatible games and applications

You can use your controller to play games streamed from your PS5® console or PS4® console to your supported device using the PS Remote Play app.

You can also use your wireless controller to play games that support generic controllers.

Please note, some wireless controller features may not be available when paired with a supported device:

  • Create button* 
  • Touch pad, light bar, and motion sensor
  • Haptic feedback
  • Speaker, Built-in microphone, and headphone jack audio connection
  • Adaptive triggers (Android only)

*In some cases, the create button will be mapped to a separate function. 

How to reconnect a wireless controller to your PS5 console

To reconnect your wireless controller to your PS5 console, turn on your console, connect the wireless controller to the console with a compatible USB cable and then press the PS button on the wireless controller. When the PS5 console account selection screen appears, you can remove the USB cable and use the controller wirelessly.
