    How to upgrade

    If you already own a PS4™ version of DEATH STRANDING, you can get the PS5™ DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT Digital Deluxe Edition for a discounted price and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4 disc copy must insert it into the PS5 every time they want to download or play the PS5 digital version. PS4 game disc owners who buy the PS5 Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5 version for the discounted price.

    How to transfer your Death Stranding save from PS4 to PS5


     
    1. Load the PlayStation 4 version of DEATH STRANDING on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 console while connected to the internet.
    2. When in-game, press the OPTIONS button to open the Cuff Link terminal, then press the left directional button to open the side menu, scroll down and select System.
    3. Select the Export Save Data option.
    4. A screen will appear detailing what will, and will not, carry over into DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT from your existing save data. Once you have read this, select the OK option.*
    5. A copy of the save data will then be exported and uploaded to the cloud.
    6. The Death Stranding save data that's currently in use will be exported, and uploaded to the server. Please wait until a message informing you that the export process has been completed is displayed.
    7. Load DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT on your PlayStation 5 console while connected to the internet.**
    8. In the main menu select the Load Game (PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5) option. This will access your save data from the cloud and create new save data on your PS5 - allowing you to continue your transferred progress in DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR’S CUT.
    9. You will now be able to play using your Death Stranding save data. Please note that new DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT save data will be created immediately after you start playing.

    *Please note that the following in-game conditions need to be met before you can use the "Export Save Data": You must open the cuff links in front of a delivery terminal at a facility. You cannot export your save data if there are any Orders for Sam currently active. If there are active Orders for Sam, you must first complete the orders before exporting the save data.

    ** In order to load exported Death Stranding save data, you must be launch Death Stranding: Director's Cut using the same PlayStation Network account that was used to create the save data.
