Millions of people play video games every day, and it is more important than ever to work towards a world where gaming brings joy to players of all abilities. Advancements in technology and innovative approaches are essential as we develop and create entertainment that is accessible to all gamers.
SIE has adopted the Sony Group Web Accessibility Policy, which establishes clear accessibility standards and compliance requirements for all websites within the Sony Group. We aim for all of our web content to adhere to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C’s) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). We offer a comprehensive suite of PlayStation services designed to enhance your gaming experience:
- Your account for PlayStation enables you to connect with friends, use in-game voice chat, collect trophies, leverage remote play and more.
- PlayStation Plus, is a flexible gaming subscription service with multiple membership tiers—Essential, Extra, and Premium (Deluxe)—giving you access to a range of benefits including monthly games, a game catalogue featuring hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games, online multiplayer access, exclusive discounts, a curated classics catalogue and more.
- PlayStation®Store is the world's largest library of PlayStation content. Browse and buy the latest games, add-ons and more.
- Direct.playstation.com is the official PlayStation store where you can shop the latest consoles, accessories, and exclusive hardware directly from PlayStation.
Commitment to Accessibility
SIE is committed to providing an accessible gaming experience for all users. PlayStation 5 users have access to a suite of features to customise their gaming experience:
- Screen Reader reads aloud the text on the screen and provides spoken guidance for operating the console.
- Zoom helps magnify things on the screen
- Colour Correction provides four different colour filters to choose from that adjusts colours to help players see things on the screen more clearly
- Text Size empowers players to change the text size
- Bold Text makes text bold
- High Contrast adjusts the colours of text and backgrounds to improve the clarity of things on the screen
- Auto-Scroll Speed sets the speed of horizontal text scrolling
- Reduce Motion helps reduce motion effects and screen movement
- Closed Captions and corresponding settings, enable showing captions while playing videos
- Chat Transcription feature converts the voice of other players in parties and game voice chats to text and read aloud the text entered to other players.
- Other features like Custom Button Assignments, Use of Second Controller for Assistance, Access Controller empowers players to customise their gameplay experience to suit their needs
- And feature like Mono Audio and Audio Focus features assist players in customising their audio experiences during gameplay
While we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level, our websites are currently partially compliant. We actively monitor our websites for areas in which we can improve and are actively working to address the remaining issues to achieve full compliance and ensure accessibility for everyone.
