How to create an adult account for PlayStation 

Find out how to set up an account for PlayStation. 

You need an account to use PlayStation services. It's free to create an account and you don't need to provide any payment details. 

  • Date of birth
    This is required for security measures. Make sure you enter your date of birth correctly. This can't be changed later. 
  • Country or region
    Make sure you select your country or region correctly. This can't be changed later. 
  • Preferred language
    This is the language used in PlayStation™Store and on certain screens, as well as the language used in emails you receive from PlayStation. 
  • Sign-in ID (email address)
    To sign in, you need to check the confirmation email you received. You'll also receive important information and use this email address for password recovery. Enter an email address that you can access and receive emails. 
  • Password
    Choose a secure password that no one can easily guess, and update it regularly. Make sure you don’t forget it, and record it somewhere safe. 
  • Name
    Your real name is displayed to your close friends. You can also edit your privacy settings to control what is visible publicly. 
  • Address
  • Age verification
    If you are setting up an adult account, you will need to provide proof that you are over the minimum age for that type of account using an age verification service.

  1. Go to Account Management and select Create New Account.

  2. Enter your details and preferences and select Next on each screen.

  3. Verify your age by following the instructions.
    If you have any issues, check the FAQ for troubleshooting steps.

  4. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.

If you already have an account on your PS4 console, you can use the same account for your PS5 console. You can have your Playstation®Plus subscription, trophies, friends, and other information on your PS5 console, while still having them on your PS4 console.

  1. Go to the home screen and select the profile picture.

  2. Select Switch User > Add User > Get Started.

  3. Select Create an Account from the sign-in screen.

  4. Enter the necessary information.

  5. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.

The next time you need to sign in, enter your sign-in ID (email address) and password. You can sign in quicker when you use PlayStation App.

  1. Press and hold the PS button to reveal the quick menu.

  2. Select Power > Switch User > New User > Create a User.

  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to create the account. 

  4. Enter the necessary information.

  5. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.

Having trouble creating your account?

  • This may be because you have lost internet connection or because PlayStation is currently undergoing maintenance. Please check your internet connection and visit the PlayStation status page.

  • If you cannot create an account because your email address is already being used, please contact us to verify the email account.
