The number of devices that can be activated on your account is limited for each type of content. You will not be able to activate another device if you reach the maximum allowed for a type of content. Please see more information below or click here to go straight to how to deactivate a device.
For example, if you have two PlayStation 3 systems activated for games content, you cannot sign-in on a third system with your PlayStation Network account information and download and play a game. You would need to deactivate one of the first two PlayStation 3 systems to allow you to activate the third.
Please see the table below for all activation limits:
|PS42||1 (2)||1 (2)||No limit|
|PS33||2||Any seven of these devices|
|Xperia mobile devices3||N/A|
|PC (Media Go)||N/A||2|
|PC/Mac (streaming via compatible web browser)||N/A||No limit|
|HDTV/Sony Home Entertainment System/Sony Blu-ray Disc Player||N/A|
1 If an account has reactivated a device for video content 3 times within 90 days (counting from initial activation date), it will be prevented from further activation on that device until the end of that 90 day period. This will not affect other content the device has been activated for.
2 You can activate one system as your primary PlayStation 4 and temporarily activate a second if, for example, you want to use a friend's PlayStation 4 to play a game or watch a video purchased on your SEN account. You can find more information about accessing your content from a second PlayStation 4 here.
3 Any combination of compatible devices up to the activation limit. Please note that Video on mobile devices is only available on Xperia mobile and Sony tablet.
Sign in to the Account Management website with your PlayStation Network details and check the Devices tab. Select a type of device to find out whether it is activated for Game (), PlayStation Music () or PlayStation Video ().
When you deactivate a device for one type of content, this system will remain activated for other types of content. For example, if you deactivate your PlayStation 3 for Game you will still be able to view Video on the system.
When you deactivate a device for a type of content, other devices activated for the same content type are unaffected. For example if you deactivate your second PlayStation 3 for Video content, you can still view Video on your first PlayStation 3 or your PS Vita.
You can use a PC, Mac or mobile device connected to the internet to remotely deactivate Game content on all of your PlayStation systems at once. This is helpful if you no longer have access to your PlayStation system to deactivate it.
You can reach Account Management in a number of ways:
Tap [PlayStation Store] on the home screen and go to [Online ID] > [Account Settings].
Go to PlayStation Store. Sign in, go to your Online ID at the top of the page and click [Account Settings].
You can only perform this deactivation once every 6 months, so please deactivate your PlayStation systems on the device using one of the methods below if possible.
If this does not immediately deactivate your system and you find you still cannot make your purchase shut your system down and restart it. This will usually correct the issue.
If you do not have access to PC, Mac or mobile device connected to the internet or if you need to remotely deactivate your devices for Video please contact us for further assistance.
