Networked standby and standby power consumption

This statement is provided in accordance with EU Regulation 801/2013.

The PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®4 systems include features that allow you to activate and access content on your system remotely using a PC, a handheld PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) or PlayStation®Vita system (with your PS3™) or a PS Vita system (with your PS4™). To maintain a network connection that can respond to network signals while “powered-down”, your PS3™ or PS4™ system must be powered-down to a “networked standby mode”.

Using networked standby modes

  • To turn the networked standby modes for PS3™ on or off:
  • Go to Settings >Remote Play Settings > Remote Start “on”/“off”. To use remote play via the Internet, select “Enable Remote Start via the Internet”.
  • Go to Settings > System Settings > Connect PS Vita System Using Network “on” or “off”.
  • Go to Settings > System Settings > Control for HDMI and select “on” to eEnable the Control for HDMI feature / “off” to disable the Control for HDMI feature”.

To turn the networked standby modes for PS4™ on or off:

  • Go to Settings > Power Save Settings > Set Functions Available in Standby/Rest Mode; then check/uncheck the option titled “Connect to the Internet”.
  • Go to Settings > System > Enable HDMI Device Link; then check/uncheck the option titled “Enable HDMI Device Link”.
  • Check/ uncheck “Auto-Download” when purchasing a pre-order online.

Note: If none of the functions available in standby/rest mode on PS4™ are selected, the system will power down to “off” mode (the standard regulatory standby mode).

Deactivating wireless connections

If required, you can deactivate the wireless connections of your system so that it does not connect to other devices via radio signals.

Follow the instructions below if you want to deactivate your PS3™ system’s wireless connections:

  • To disable a wireless connection to a Wi-Fi access point: Go to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connections and select “Disable – Disable connection to the Internet”.
  • To disable a connection to a networked PS Vita system: Go to Settings > System Settings > Connect PS Vita System Using Network and select “off”.
  • To disable the wireless connection between a PS3™ system and a controller: Hold down the PS button and select “Turn Off the Controller”.
  • To disable the Wi-Fi “Remote Play” connection between a PS3™ system and a PSP® or PS Vita system: Go to Settings > Remote Play Settings > Remote Start and select “off”.

Follow these instructions to deactivate your PS4™ system’s wireless connections:

  • To disable a wireless connection to a router: Go to Settings > Network > Connect to the Internet; then uncheck the box labelled “Connect to the Internet”.
  • To disable the connection between a PS4™ system and a controller: Hold down the PS button, go to Adjust Devices > Turn Off Device; then select “DUALSHOCK®4”.
  • To disable the connection between a PS4™ system and a PS Vita system: Go to Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings and uncheck “Enable Remote Play”.
