PlayStation®4 Broadcast and Share Play troubleshooting

Learn how to troubleshoot PlayStation®4 Broadcast and Share Play issues.

Broadcast troubleshooting

Twitch now requires 2FA (Two Factor Authorisation). You will need to activate 2FA to your Twitch account to Broadcast from your PS4. For full instructions, please visit the Twitch Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) guide. Once 2FA is activated and set up, you can log in to Twitch from your PS4 and start streaming.

  • If you are pressing the SHARE button on the home screen, start the game you want to distribute and then press the SHARE button.

  • Depending on the game software, there may be scenes that cannot be distributed.

  • Make sure the following port numbers are valid.
    TCP: 1935, 2805–2899, 6667

  • For checking and setting the port number, refer to the instruction manual of the network device you are using or the material of your Internet service provider.

  • To view all comments, press the SHARE button and then select Broadcast Settings  > View Comments

  • To enable your system to speak the comments, select Broadcast Settings  > Advanced Settings > Comments to Speech, and then tick the box for Enable Comments to Speech.

  • Select Broadcast > Stop Broadcasting on the quick menu.

Share Play troubleshooting

To get the best experience from Share Play, both the host and the visitor must each have a high-speed Internet connection. Refer to this information if you experience Share Play connection or stability issues.

  • Generally, a minimum upstream and downstream connection speed of 2 Mbps is recommended.
  • You can view an estimate of your connection speed in   Settings  > Network  > Test Internet Connection.
  • A wired Internet connection is recommended for the PS4™ system.
  • If you're using a Wi-Fi (wireless) connection, place the PS4™ system closer to the access point or router and make sure there are no obstructions between them.
  • Do not use Share Play while other devices on your network are using a large amount of bandwidth.
  • PS4 Remote Play and Broadcast are not available during Share Play.

  • Visitors cannot save screenshots or video clips during Share Play.

  • You can use Share Play for up to 1 hour at a time. Share Play automatically ends an hour after the visitor joins.

  • You can view the remaining time for Share Play from the party screen. For details about the party screen, see "What's on the party screen".

  • Only the host can earn trophies during Share Play.

  • During Share Play, when the host views a screen other than the game screen, a standby image appears on the visitor's system.

  • If the host and visitor are playing a game together, the host must tick the box for Allow  under  Settings > Parental Controls/Family Management  > PS4 System Restrictions > New User Creation and Guest Login.

  • Depending on the player's account and the game played, Share Play may not be available, or some scenes may not appear to the visitor.

  • When the host has HDR enabled, the colours in the video seen by the visitor might be different from the colours seen by the host.
