How to set up 2-Step Verification for PlayStation Network log in

How do I set up 2-Step Verification?

Select a device below to set up 2-Step Verification.

  1. Go to  [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Security] > [2-Step Verification] .
  2. Select how you would like to receive the verification code: [Authenticator App] or [Text Message]:

Authenticator app:

Open an authenticator app on your mobile device and scan the QR code. If the QR code fails, copy and paste the alphanumeric code. You will then see a verification code in the app.

Text message: 

  1. Enter the verification code. Select [Activate] to switch on 2SV.
  2. Record your Backup Codes
  1. Go to account management on a connected device.
  2. Next to 2-step Verification, select [Edit] > [Activate] > [Continue].
  3. Select how you would like to receive the verification code: [Authenticator App] or [Text Message]:

Authenticator app:
Open an authenticator app on your mobile device and scan the QR code. If the QR code fails, copy and paste the alphanumeric code. You will then see a verification code in the app.

Text message:
Enter a mobile number or select an existing one – you will be sent a verification code.

  1. Enter the code and select [verify].
  2. Make a note of your Backup Codes

DON'T GET LOCKED OUT

Make a note of your back up codes!

These codes can help you regain access to your account if you don't have your phone, or if you've changed your mobile number.

You can find your back up codes on PS4 or through account management on a web browser. To use a back up code, attempt to sign in as normal and enter one of your back up codes instead of the verification text message code.

  • Details of the payment method in use on your account.
  • Serial number of the console used to create or log into your account.
  • Details of a recent transaction (including Order Number, content purchased, price and date of the transaction).
