    Looks like a champion

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 uses its hugely successful series of television shows as a starting point, bringing the slick presentation of a TV studio into your home. Featuring all the major events of the World Wrestling Entertainment calendar, such as SummerSlam, Backlash and Wrestlemania, the wrestling rings are presented with a host of entertaining details, such as animated commentators and crowds. And with the fireworks and music that accompanies each wrestler's entrance, the flashy experience of a WWE bout is authentically captured.

If you're not so familiar with the world of wrestling, SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 eases you in with its Training Facility to teach moves and techniques, as well as familiarity with the roster of over 50 Superstars and Divas. Each fighter comes with an array of moves that mimics their real life counterpart, complete with a selection of colourful ring attire and personality to match, from the charismatic swagger of John Cena, to the spooky white-eyed intimidation of Undertaker.

These features come to life in the ring, as slick animation and dynamic camera angles make all your moves a dazzling spectacle. Fighters clutch injured body parts, visibly mark from slaps and punches and gasp for breath after a gruelling bout.

With all the official music, logos and style of live WWE, complete with storyline driven pre and post match interviews, full colour commentary, and even mock conferences with WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is a wrestling feast for any fan.

    Laying the smackdown

World Wrestling Entertainment is all about battling for championship gold and bragging rights - and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 drops you straight into the ring for a first-hand experience of its excitement. The controls offer an easy way into the action, with a massive set of moves available for each wrestler to keep you fighting after you've mastered the basics.

As well as a number of attacks, reversals and finishing moves, each combatant also has a selection of Superstar Abilities which you can activate during the match to gain the upper hand. For example, Fired Up lets your wrestler perform a finishing move up to three times in succession, while the Referee Shield allows villainous combatants to hide behind the ref before shoving him into an opponent.

A number of other elements play their part in creating a thrilling and unpredictable series of bouts, such as rivals or allies who can interrupt your match by running into the ring to help or hinder you, useable weapons and an incredible range of match set-ups to explore, including the free-for-all Royal Rumble and the Steel Cage match. You can also play a career mode and work your way up the Championship ladder, and even go to Wrestlemania.

If all that isn't enough, you can create and customise your own fighter, complete with his or her own move-set, special finisher, entrance presentation, and also include them in your own created storylines.
