Join the PlayStation Plus community
PlayStation Plus is the world’s biggest community of online gamers; meet some of the players and find out more ways to get involved.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of PS Plus players just like you get together to play, compete, connect and share their favourite games online, on-console and on the go.
Tom, Laura, James, Phil and Graham can all regularly be found online in their favourite PS4 games – see what they’ve got to say about being part of this incredible community.
“I’m Tom, I’m a 23 year old video editor from Norfolk, UK, and I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember – which led to me starting my own YouTube channel.
Now I’ve started my own production company and get to produce and edit video content full time, and travel to events worldwide, meeting like-minded gamers and hanging out with people that I’ve met online through PlayStation.”
“I play online as LauraK483 and, while my birth certificate says I’m 24, I sometimes think I’m the world’s oldest 6 year old. I’ve been into gaming since I was (actually) a kid and now love playing Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV, the Uncharted series and The Last of Us.
I think playing online can be intimidating for some people, but it really doesn’t have to be. Finding a group of people you enjoy playing with can be an amazing experience, a great place to hang out as well as being adrenaline packed at times.”
“I’ve been into sport and gaming since I was about eight years old. I’m 24 now and a lot of my time is spent with Graham, playing for Huracan FC – but in between training and playing I like to socialise and meet new people in different ways – so jumping online through PS Plus has been a great way to do this.”
“I can remember playing games firm as early as five years old – having four older brothers and sisters meant my eyes were opened to gaming from an early age! I’ve owned every generation of PlayStation consoles and the sort of games I play now are Mass Effect, Uncharted and the Batman Arkham series, amongst others.
The only thing that rivals gaming for me is football, and playing together on the pitch spills over into friendly rivalry online in games of FIFA 17. Playing online was also a great way for me to stay in touch with friends at university, so the social element is just as important as the actual playing, for me.”
“There are a lot of different elements I love in gaming – I’m really into strategy and sports games, and believe that the sort of connections you can make in gaming do a lot of good in the real world.
I run Huracan FC and the Huracan Foundation to support injured players, and to me, online multiplayer is a great way to keep injured players feeling engaged and part of the team when they can’t be around and on the pitch. It worked for me when a serious injury took me out of the game for a while – I could stay connected to the team, play alongside the other guys and still feel part of the social aspect of the club.”
As well as playing together online, there are many other ways to become part of the PlayStation Plus community.
The communities tab on your PS4 home screen connects you to other gamers who play the same titles as you – discuss the games, or hook up to play together online.
