How to sign in on PS3 consoles and PS Vita

On PlayStation®3 consoles and PlayStation®Vita systems, signing in to PlayStation now requires a device password for enhanced account protection.

How to generate a Device Setup Password

To sign in to PlayStation on PlayStation®3 consoles or PlayStation® Vita systems, you have to generate a Device Setup Password on a web browser.

  1. Sign in to Account Management.
  2. Select Generate New Password.
  3. Write down, screenshot, or print out your Device Setup Password and save it somewhere safe.
    You can now use your Device Setup Password to sign in on PS3™ consoles or PS Vita™ systems.

Please note, account creation and some account management features are now only available from a PC or mobile browser. This is to improve overall system performance.

How to sign in to PlayStation on a PS3 console or PS Vita system

To sign in to PlayStation, use your Device Setup Password instead of your account password.

  1. On your PS3 console or PS Vita system, enter your sign-in ID (email address) and your Device Setup Password when you need to sign in to PlayStation.
    This will authorise the device.
  2. Tick the box to enable auto sign-in. If you choose not to enable auto sign-in, you will need to enter your Device Setup Password each time you sign in.*

*You can revoke a password and generate a new one at any time.

How to revoke a Device Setup Password

  1. Sign in to Account Management.
  2. Select Revoke next to an existing Device Setup Password.
  3. If you need a new password, select Generate New Password.
