A PlayStation VR2 game developed by Guerrilla and Firesprite, Horizon Call of the Mountain tells the story of Ryas, a disgraced former Carja Soldier who played a key role in the abduction of young Prince Itamen from his home in Meridian and the formation of the Carja in Shadow. See the world through his eyes while he seeks redemption for his past actions.

No, Horizon Call of the Mountain is a single-player game only.
Is this another Horizon game, like Horizon Zero Dawn, but ported into VR?
Horizon Call of the Mountain is a unique VR game that has been built from the ground up for the PSVR2 which tells the adventure of Ryas, a disgraced former Carja Solider seeking redemption. Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, not available to play in VR, instead follow Aloy’s adventures.
Who is Ryas?
Horizon Call of the Mountain’s protagonist is Ryas, a former Shadow Carja soldier who seeks to atone for his actions during the Carja Red Raids and the formation of the Shadow Carja.
Do I need to have played other games in the Horizon franchise to understand Horizon Call of the Mountain?
No, Horizon Call of the Mountain is a standalone story within the Horizon franchise. You do not need to have played through Horizon Zero Dawn or Horizon Forbidden West.
When does this game take place in the Horizon timeline?
Horizon Call of the Mountain takes place between two missions in Horizon Zero Dawn, although it is not necessary to have played Horizon Zero Dawn to understand Horizon Call of the Mountain. We are excited to see if our players can pinpoint what missions these are!
Is there an option to see Ryas’ arms while playing?
No, it is not possible to see Ryas’ arms while playing Horizon Call of the Mountain.
Does Aloy appear in Horizon Call of the Mountain?
Yes, Ryas will have an encounter with Aloy during the story.
What control schemes can I choose in Horizon Call of the Mountain?
During the Calibration Sequence, you have the opportunity to choose between Gesture, which allows you to move around the world through your physical movements, and Analogue which allows you to use the Sticks on the Playstation VR2 Sense controllers to move in the game. You can change the control scheme via the Options menu.
Can you play Horizon Call of the Mountain with a DualSense controller or PS Move controllers?
While there is limited functionality with a DualSense controller, it is not intended for standard gameplay when playing Horizon Call of the Mountain. PS Move controllers are not compatible with PlayStation VR2.
Does Horizon Call of the Mountain support gaze tracking?
Yes, the VR2 headset and Horizon Call of the Mountain support gaze tracking. The game uses gaze-based foveated rendering to help render the world at the highest quality where the player is looking. We also support gaze-based aim assist for shooting arrows, using tools, and navigating menus. This can be selected during the initial calibration screen or in the Options menu.
My camera is incorrect/not aligned with my head, how can I fix this?
Hold down the “Options” button on the controller while your head is in a comfortable position, looking forward. This will recalibrate your head position in the game.

Horizon Call of the Mountain has a range of accessibility settings:
- Robust Comfort settings for locomotion style, speed, vignette strength.
- Falling enable/disable.
- Combat settings for damage dealt, damage taken, auto-loading arrows.
- Player Reach settings (telescoping arms).
Can I change the difficulty settings?
Horizon Call of the Mountain allows you to modify two values to create your own difficulty settings. These are:
- Damage Dealt - Increases the multiplier for all damage dealt to enemy machines.
- Damage Received - Lowers the percentage of damage that Ryas is dealt by enemy machines.
