OFFICIAL RULES

By participating in FIA GRAN TURISMO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018 (the “Tournament”), each entrant (or his or her parent or legal guardian if the entrant is under the age of majority in his or her jurisdiction of residence) unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (“Sponsor”), which shall be final and binding in all respects. Sponsor is responsible for the collection and scoring of entries and the overall administration of the Tournament. Entrants should look solely to Sponsor with any questions, comments or problems related to the Tournament.

1.     ELIGIBILITY: The Tournament is open to legal residents of the 50 United States (excluding Arizona), the District of Columbia, and Canada (excluding Quebec), Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Uruguay, and Nicaragua (together as “The Americas Region”) age 18 or older at time of entry who, prior to the commencement of the Tournament Period (as defined below), have an account on PlayStation Network (“Account”) in good standing, internet access, a PlayStation®4 system, PlayStation™Plus membership, and a valid version of Gran Turismo Sport (individually an “Entrant”, collectively “Entrants”). To create an Account, please visit https://www.playstation.com.


These Official Rules are applicable to residents in the United States and Canada only.

The Sponsor is conducting the Tournament in all of the countries listed in this section, and the winners will be determined among all the Entrants of all the participating countries listed in this section. Please visit www.gran-turismo.com to find official rules for Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Uruguay, and Nicaragua.


Employees of Sponsor and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and related companies, agencies, and the judging panel and immediate families (defined as parents, children, siblings and spouse and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and those living in the same household, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win. Void in Puerto Rico, all U.S. territories and possessions and overseas military installations, the state of Arizona (United States), the Province of Quebec (Canada) and where prohibited or restricted by law.

2.     TOURNAMENT PERIOD: The Tournament begins June 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time (PT)
and ends on September 8, 2018 (the “Tournament Period”). The full race schedule is as follows:

3.     HOW TO ENTER: The purpose of the Tournament is to determine the top 30 players in the “Nations Cup” and the top 16 players in the “Manufacturer Series”. To determine the winners, Entrants must participate in multiple online races as outlined below (“Entry”).

3.1.   To Enter a Race:

3.1.1. Load game. PS4 system must be connected to the Internet.

3.1.2. Select “Sport Mode”

3.1.3. Select a “Race Category” as defined in Section 3.3.

3.1.4. If “Nations Cup” is selected: select a race time.

3.1.5. If “Manufacturer Series” is selected: Entrant must select a car manufacturer from the list of twenty-five (25) pre-determined manufacturers, then select a race time.

3.1.6. Each race begins with a practice race which must be completed prior to the actual race. There are no points accumulated in the practice race. Once the p­­ractice race is completed, Entrants proceed to the actual race.

3.2.   Seasons: There are three (3) racing seasons in the Tournament Period: “Season 1”, “Season 2”, and “Season 3”. Each season consists of scheduled race dates outlined in the Tournament Period (see Section 2 above). There are five (5) races held each race day. Race times each race day will be specified in the in-game calendar, and on the website https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/news/00_1886955.html. Limit one (1) race per Entrant per race day. If an Entrant attempts to participate in more than one race per day, the Entrant will receive an error message.

3.3.   Race Category: Entrants can choose to compete in the “Nations Cup” or the “Manufacturer Series”.

3.3.1. Nations Cup: The Nations Cup is a tournament where Entrants’ represent their country. The country of an Entrant’s affiliation is automatically determined in-game based on the country registered on the Entrant’s  Account used to log into Gran Turismo Sport.

3.3.2. Manufacturer Series: The Manufacturer Series is a tournament where Entrants represent their vehicle manufacturer of choice, and compete against other Entrants representing different manufacturers. Entrants who compete in the Manufacturer Series must select and race a vehicle from the list of 25 pre-determined vehicle manufacturers in-game. Once a manufacturer has been selected, Entrants cannot switch manufacturers during the 2018 series.

3.3.3. Race requirements will be posted in-game.

3.3.4. Entrants may participate in the Nations Cup only, the Manufacturers Series only, or both the Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Series concurrently.

3.4.   Ratings

3.4.1. Driver Rating: This is an indicator of the Entrants’ driving skills in-game. There are six driver ratings: “E”, “D”, “C”, “B”, “A”, and “S”. The lowest rating is “E” and the highest rating is “S”. The points earned in “Sport Mode” races will increase driver rating.

3.4.2. Sportsmanship Rating: This is an indicator of the standard of an Entrants’ manners on the track. There are six sportsmanship rating: “E”, “D”, “C”, “B”, “A”, and “S”. The lowest rating is “E” and the highest rating is “S”. Entrants will earn sportsmanship points for completing races without incidents such as colliding with other Entrants’ vehicles.

3.5.   Points:

3.5.1. Points are awarded according to the Entrants’ final position in each completed race.  

3.5.2. Season 1: The two (2) highest points from each race will be combined to determine the score in Season 1.

3.5.3. Season 2: The four (4) highest points from each race will be combined to determine the score in Season 2.

3.5.4. Season 3: The five (5) highest points from each race will be combined to determine the score in Season 3. The points will reset after each season except in Season 3.

3.5.5.The points accumulated in Season 3 determine the winners.

3.6.   Star Player Qualification: Entrants are eligible to register as a star player if they meet the following criteria at the end of each season:

3.6.1. Nations Cup: Entrants in the top 200 or top 10 in their respective country / locale at the end of each season.

3.6.2. Manufacturer Series: Entrants in the top 200, or top 10 from each manufacturer at the end of each season.

3.6.3. Entrants who meet the Star Player Criteria will receive a notification from Sponsor in the game notifying them that they are eligible. The notice will include a link in which Entrant can register to become a Star Player.

3.6.4. Registered Star Players (“Star Players”) will have an “S” driver rating, and will be eligible to compete in the Top 24 Superstars Race (outlined below).

3.6.5. The Star Player title will reset at the end of each season. Entrants must re-qualify at the end of each season.

3.7.   Top 24 Superstars Race

3.7.1. Top 24 Superstars Races will take place periodically throughout the Tournament. The Superstars Race dates are noted with an asterisk (*) mark in the Tournament Schedule.

3.7.2. Entrants who compete in the Top 24 Superstar Races will be eligible to win bonus points during the Tournament.

3.7.3. Each Entrant must be a Star Player to register for a Top 24 Superstars Race.

3.7.4. Entrants may register to join a Top 24 Superstars Race up to fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start of each race. Race times are posted in-game.

3.7.5. For each Top 24 Superstars Race, the 24 most highly ranked Star Players who have registered for the applicable race will be selected to participate. This ranking may be based on each Entrant’s driver rating or the total number of points acquired in the applicable season. The way in which Star Players are ranked for the purposes of Top 24 Superstars Race selection will be defined in-game prior to the start of each Top 24 Superstar Race.

3.7.6. In the Nations Cup Top 24 Superstars Race, a maximum of ten (10) players per country will be selected.

3.7.7. In the Manufacturer Series Tope 24 Superstars Race, maximum of two (2) players per manufacturer will be selected.



4.     REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: Each Entrant competing must complete an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release (“Affidavit”) or, if a resident of Canada, a Declaration and Release Form (“Declaration”) in accordance with the instructions listed in the notification correspondence. Sponsor must receive the completed Affidavit or Declaration by 12:00:00PM (noon) PT on September 10, 2018 or Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, disqualify Entrant. If an Entrant is considered a minor in the legal jurisdiction in which the Entrant resides, then that Entrant’s parent or legal guardian will be required to execute and return an Affidavit or Declaration (in Canada, the parent/legal guardian may also be required to provide the correct answer to the mathematical skill-testing question, if required). Non-compliance with these Official Rules, failure to return all required documentation by the stated deadline or Sponsor’s inability to contact an Entrant (using the contact information provided in his or her Entry) within a reasonable time period, as determined by Sponsor’s sole discretion, may result in disqualification.

5.     GRANT OF RIGHTS: Each Entrant is responsible for his or her Entry and the consequences of posting or publishing it. In connection with the Entry, each Entrant affirms, represents, and warrants that: (i) Entrant owns or has the necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions to use the Entry in the manner contemplated by Sponsor; and (ii) Entrant has obtained the written consent, release and permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the Entry to use that person’s name or likeness in the Entry and in the manner contemplated by Sponsor. By submitting an Entry to Sponsor, Entrant (i) waives any and all rights in and to any material submitted by Entrant in connection with this Tournament (including all moral and other rights of authorship); (ii) hereby acknowledges and agrees that Entries (including material submitted by Entrant in connection with the Tournament) become Sponsor’s property and will not be returned; and (iii) grants Sponsor the absolute right to edit, modify, publish, exploit and use an Entry, voice, actions, likeness, name, appearance, biographical material, written works, and all other information or materials that Entrant has provided or may provide in connection with this Tournament in any media, now known or hereafter devised, and in any manner, without further approval, permission or consideration, throughout the universe in perpetuity. Sponsor is under no obligation to use an Entry.

6.     ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Each Entry submitted (i) must be in keeping with the Sponsor’s image (as Sponsor determines in its sole discretion), (ii) may not be inappropriate, offensive, libelous or defamatory, pornographic, sexually explicit, contain nudity, unlawful or plagiarized, (iii) must not be harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, profane, obscene, excessively violent, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or offensive in any way, (iv) may not violate or encourage others to violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation, (v) may not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property right or any other third party right, (vi) may not contain commercial or corporate advertising, including display of corporate logos, brand names and slogans, other than those relating to Sponsor, (vii) may not include references to alcoholic beverages, tobacco/vaping, drug paraphernalia, firearms or any depiction or representation thereof and (viii) may not include any virus, worm, corrupt file, Trojan horse or other forms of corruptive code or content that may harm or compromise Sponsor’s web site or the proper conduct of the Tournament. Sponsor reserves the right to verify the accuracy or truthfulness of any information contained within a submitted Entry. Sponsor has the right in its sole discretion to determine if any Entry is not appropriate for publication in the Tournament or for any other public release and if Entry is in compliance with these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify an Entry for any reason. Sponsor’s decisions are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to this Tournament.

7.     WINNER SELECTION: 

7.1.   Nations Cup Winners:  The top thirty (30) Entrants with the highest points at the end of Season 3 are the Nations Cup Winners (“Nations Cup Regional Finalist”). A maximum of ten (10) Entrants will be selected from each country. This means that an Entrant ranked 11th or lower amongst Entrants from their country cannot be a winner even if their score is higher than an Entrant placed in the top ten (10) of another country.

7.2.   Manufacturers Series Winners: Each Entrant with the highest score from the top sixteen (16) manufacturers are the winners (“Manufacturer Series Finalist”).

7.3.   In the event of a tie, the Entrant with the higher driver rating will win. If the tied Entrants have equal driver ratings, the Entrant with the higher sportsmanship rating wins. If the tied Entrants have equal driver ratings and equal sportsmanship ratings, the Entrant who played Gran Turismo Sport using their Account at the earliest date wins.

7.4.    All winner selections will be subject to confirmation by the Sponsor.  Sponsor’s decisions with respect to the determination of winners and all aspects of the Tournament will be final and binding. Each potential winning Entrant will be notified via email. The potential winning Entrant must respond to Sponsor’s prize notification email within 10 business days from the date and time of the Sponsor’s prize notification email. Winning Entrants from Canada may also be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question at a pre-arranged, mutually convenient time.  In the event that the potential winning Entrant does not respond to Sponsor’s prize notification email within the specified time,  the prize notification email is returned as undeliverable, or the Entrant incorrectly responds to the mathematical skill-testing question (Canada Entrants only) a new winner will be chosen based on the next-highest points accumulated in Season 3 . Alternate winners will be contacted via email and must respond to the Sponsor’s prize notification email within 2 business days from that date and time of the Sponsor’s prize notification email.

8.     PRIZES:

8.1.    Thirty (30) Confirmed Nations Cup winners will each receive an invitation to the Americas Nations Cup Regional Final.

8.1.1.The Americas Nations Cup Regional Final will be a live event during which the Regional Finalists will race to determine the Americas Nations Cup Regional Winner (the “Americas Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event”). The Americas Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event is expected to take place in October 2018 in a city within the United States which will be announced on September 15, 2018. Sponsor will confirm the exact dates, location and rules of the Americas Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event by email on September 15, 2018. Winners must confirm within 48 hours upon receipt of email whether he or she will attend and compete in the Americas Nations Cup Regional Finals.

The invitation to the Americas Nations Cup Regional Finals Live Event includes a trip for one to a city in the United States, which will be confirmed by Sponsor on September 15, 2018. The trip package will include, round trip coach class airfare for one (from major airport nearest to winner’s home), double occupancy hotel accommodations for two (2) days and three (3) nights, and transportation to and from event. The approximate retail value (ARV) for each Nations Cup Winner prize is $3,000.00 USD. The total ARV for the Nations Cup Winner prize is $90,000 USD.
 

8.2.   Sixteen (16) confirmed Manufacturer Series winners will each receive an invitation to the World Finals Live Event.

8.2.1.The World Finals Live Event is expected take place in November 2018 at a country which will be announced by the Sponsor on September 15, 2018. Sponsor will confirm the exact dates, location and rules of the Americas Nations Cup Regional Final Live Event by email on September 15, 2018. Winners must confirm within 48 hours upon receipt of email whether he or she will attend and compete in the Americas Nations Cup Regional Finals.
The invitation to the World Finals Live Event includes a trip for one to a country which will be confirmed by Sponsor on September 15, 2018. The Trip package will include round trip coach class airfare for one to a country which Sponsor will confirm on September 15, 2018 (from major airport nearest to winner’s home), double occupancy hotel accommodations for two (2) nights and three (3) days, and transportation to and from event. The ARV for each of the Manufacturer Series Winner prize is $10,000 USD. The total ARV for the Manufacturer Series Winner prize is $160,000 USD.

8.3.  

All prize travel details will be at Sponsor’s discretion. Prize will be forfeited if winner is unable to travel during designated time period which will be confirmed by the Sponsor via email following the end of Season 3. All winners must possess all required travel documents, including visas and valid passports. Each confirmed winner and his/her travel companion must be legally able to travel to the US (Canada residents only) or country determined by Sponsor, if applicable.  Sponsor is not liable if a winner and/or his/her guest is/are refused entry or re-entry into the US, Canada, or the country confirmed by Sponsor on September 15, 2018.  If, for any reason, travel is delayed, impeded or refused by Canada, US, or other immigration/border control authorities, the prize may be forfeited (in whole or in part) and winner and/or his/her guest will be solely responsible for any additional expenses incurred.  No compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or delay of any flight. Airline tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable and are not valid for upgrades or frequent flyer miles. All airline tickets are subject to the vagaries of flight variation, work stoppages, and schedule or route changes.  If in the judgment of Sponsor, air travel is not required due to winner's proximity to prize location, ground transportation will be substituted for roundtrip air travel at Sponsors' sole discretion.  

Winner must comply with any applicable hotel check-in requirements, such as presentation of a major credit card. Room taxes and other hotel fees may not be included and if applicable may be payable at the time of check-out by the winner or guest.  All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the package description above, which may include but not be limited to, ground transportation, meals, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or other expenses are the sole responsibility of winner. 

The ARV for travel prizes is an estimate made before the Tournament begins and may vary depending upon points of departure and destination and fare fluctuations. The winner will not receive cash or any other form of compensation if actual travel costs are less than the estimate made in these Official Rules.

Winner’s travel companion must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older. The travel companion the winner must sign a travel and publicity release (“Travel Companion Release”) prior to making any travel arrangements.  Failure to return this Travel Companion Release with the confirmed winner’s Affidavit or Declaration within 48 hours of receipt will result of forfeiture of the prize. Travel companion’s expenses including airfare and hotel will not be provided by the Sponsor.

In the event the winner or his or her travel companion engages in behavior that, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, is obnoxious or threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the trip or other applicable experience early, in whole or in part, and send the winner and his or her travel companion home with no further compensation.

The restrictions and conditions stated herein are not all-inclusive and the described above may be subject to additional restrictions and conditions, which may be stated in any correspondence with Sponsor or other travel documents.

8.4.   In the event that a winner receives an invitation to both events, the winner may accept both event invitations and, subject to confirmation, may receive both prizes.

8.5.   The total ARV of all of the prizes in the Tournament is $250,000 USD.

8.6.   Please allow 6 weeks for prize delivery. Taxes on prize, if any, are solely the responsibility of the winner. Winners of a prize valued at $600 or more will receive a Federal Tax Form 1099. We recommend that you consult with your tax advisor if you have further questions.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize or a prize component of equal or greater value in its sole discretion, unless such substitution is prohibited by law. Sponsor may disqualify a winner and select an alternate winner if any prize is declined or returned as undeliverable. Prizes are non-transferable, and no cash substitute will be provided except in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor need not substitute a prize based on the winner’s request.

9.     LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY: Sponsor and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, advertising and Tournament agencies, and all of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, and agents are not responsible for: any incorrect or inaccurate Entry information; human errors; technical malfunctions; failures, omissions, interruptions, deletions, or defects of any telephone network, computer online system, computer equipment, servers, providers, or software, including any injury or damage to Entrant's or any other person's computer relating to participation or inability to participate in the Tournament; inability to access the Site or upload information or data; theft, tampering, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, Entries; data that is processed late or incorrectly or is incomplete or lost due to telephone, computer, or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on telephone lines or the Internet or any website (including the Site) or for any other reason whatsoever; printing or other errors; or any combination thereof. Proof of uploading information or data or entering information at the Site is not considered proof of delivery or receipt. Illegible, duplicate and incomplete Entries will be disqualified. False, fraudulent, or deceptive Entries or acts shall render Entrants ineligible and all associated Entries will be void.

10.  INDEMNITY: Entrant shall indemnify and defend Sponsor its parent companies, each of Sponsor’s advertising agencies, and the officers, directors, employees, and agents of all of the foregoing and the successors and assigns of each of them, from and against actions, claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses, including reasonable counsel fees related to (i) Entrant/Entrant Travel Companion’s use or enjoyment of, or participation in any prize(ii) the Sponsor’s use of any of the materials submitted by Entrant in connection with this Tournament or (iii) any intentional misconduct or negligence by Entrant in connection with this Tournament.

11.  RELEASES: As a condition of participating in the Tournament, Entrants release Sponsor and its parent, subsidiaries, agencies, divisions and affiliates from liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever including property damage, personal injury and death that may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in the Tournament, or possession, acceptance or use of prize or participation in any Tournament-related activities and claims based on publicity rights, copyright or trademark infringement, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.

12.  GENERAL CONDITIONS: Potential winning Entrants are subject to Sponsor’s verification. Sponsor’s decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the Tournament. Potential winners must comply with the Official Rules, and receipt of prizes is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures, malfunctions, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions or unforeseen schedule changes that may limit an Entrant’s ability to participate in the Tournament, even if caused by Sponsor’s negligence. Sponsor has the sole discretion to modify, cancel or suspend this Tournament should viruses, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sponsor’s control affect the administration, security or proper play of the Tournament or Sponsor otherwise becomes incapable of running the Tournament as planned. Sponsor is not responsible for changes to Entrant’s contact information. No illegible, incomplete, forged or altered Entries will be accepted. Sponsor has the sole discretion to disqualify Entrants who violate these Official Rules, tamper with the operation of the Tournament or engage in any conduct that is deemed, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, to be harassing, detrimental or unfair to Sponsor, the Tournament or any other Entrant.

13.  COLLECTION OF INFORMATION: Information collected in connection with the Tournament will be collected in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, available at https://www.playstation.com/en-us/legal/privacy-policy/. By participating in the Promotion, each entrant agrees to the terms of Sponsor’s Privacy Policy.

14.  WINNER LIST: To obtain a winner list by mail, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to “Gran Turismo / FIA Online Series”, Attn: SIE Gran Turismo Marketing, 2207 Bridgepointe Parkway, San Mateo, CA 94404. Sponsor will send requested winner lists within 4-6 weeks after all prizes are awarded. Requests for the winner list must be received by September 22, 2018.
