California E-Waste Law: Battery Embedded Products

Sony Interactive Entertainment is providing notice to retailers of obligations under California’s Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003, as amended by Senate Bill (SB) 1215.

SB 1215 expands California’s electronic waste recycling requirements to include battery-embedded products, defined in Section 42463(f)(1) of the Act. Under Section 42464(b), these covered products are subject to an electronic waste recycling fee that retailers are responsible for collecting at the time of sale beginning January 1, 2026.
