What is Ghost of Yōtei?

At the Northern edge of Japan, a new warrior rises

Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.

Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu's quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. 

Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.

After completing the main story, you'll unlock New Game+ on the title screen, a chance to return to breathtaking lands of Ezo and start your adventure over with all your progress carried over.

  • Retain all your gear, upgrades, cosmetics, resources and collectibles.
  • Complete objectives already completed in your initial playthrough to be rewarded with Ghost Flowers. These can be exchanged at a new vendor for:
    • Additional cosmetics
    • New Charms
    • Two new and upgradeable Armor Sets
  • New armor and weapon upgrades available to craft.
  • Two new trophies available to unlock.

Replayable content:

  • A huge range of Challenge Missions and Duels can be replayed via the map, including:
    • 22 Challenge Content Locations
    • 27 Duels
  • In NG+, players can replay Challenge Missions and Duels after completing them once.

From a story perspective, Ghost of Yōtei is not a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, but it does represent an evolution of critically-acclaimed design and mythos of Sucker Punch's 2020 hit. Those who loved the stylish combat and breathtaking visuals of Ghost of Tsushima are sure to love what the developer has created for Ghost of Yōtei.

Yes, the popular 'Legends' mode from Ghost of Tsushima, will return in Ghost of Yōtei. Though this won't be available at launch, players can look forward to learning more about this multiplayer focused experience very soon.

That depends on you, the player. Ghost of Yōtei presents a vast world to explore filled with characters, locations and secret items to discover. It's certain, however, that following Atsu's story to it's conclusion and discovering all the world has to offer will take a great many hours. 

In Japanese, the word 'Yōtei' is pronounced 'Yo-tay'. 

Ghost of Yōtei is set several hundred years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. As such, Ghost of Tsushima's main protagonist Jin Sakai does not feature within the game. His legend, however, endures.

Ghost of Yōtei launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 2nd October 2025 and also includes support for PlayStation 5 Pro. 

No, in order to realise their ambitious vision for Ghost of Yōtei, the development team shifted their focus to the newest generation of PlayStation consoles, allowing them to create an even larger, more detailed, visually rich and dynamic world to explore.
