This latest iteration of PS2's favourite football management sim has had something of an overhaul; it's got a slick and intuitive new interface, a raft of new features and massively improved AI. Most importantly though, it mirrors the trials and tribulations of the modern game, and the manager's life - both on and off the pitch - more closely than ever.
Any manager will tell you that there's rarely one 'right' strategy when it comes to managing a team; the path to glory has many different forks. The game's vastly improved AI means that the same is true of Premier Manager 2004/2005, making for possibly the most realistic football management sim on PS2 to date.
The transfer and loan system has been improved (and brought into line with current rules and trends), with intelligent information filters allowing you to find the info you want quickly and easily. Your scouts are an even cleverer bunch than before and now have specific skills sets for finding fresh young talent or snapping up a bargain on the transfer market.
There's increased emphasis on the messaging system; meetings are now called only for top-level club decisions, leaving you more time to manage. During matches, you're rewarded for quick thinking - switch tactics and formations with preset hot buttons, and even change corner and free kick strategies on the fly.
