There is no shortage of quality four-wheeled racers on PSP - FORMULA ONE 06, Ridge Racer 2, Juiced: Eliminator, ToCA, et al - but racing of a two-wheeled variety on our favourite handheld is as rare as short hair in a biker bar. But that is about to change as Namco kickstarts a revolution with MotoGP.
Hailing from the same stable as the iconic Ridge Racer, and featuring Wireless multi-player for up to eight players, MotoGP roars onto PSP at the conclusion of one of the most thrilling seasons in recent memory for lovers of the two-wheeled sport.
Already a huge success on PlayStation 2, the MotoGP series brings to life one of the fastest and most exciting motorsports on the planet, giving you the opportunity to race against the best riders in the world around some of the most challenging and deadly tracks in the world.
MotoGP gives fans the chance to tackle both the current 2006 season and relive (or rewrite) the thrills of the Valentino Rossi dominated 2005 season. Challenge the Season mode as either a rookie unknown or slip into the still-warm leathers of your favourite MotoGP star including Loris Capirossi and Nicky Hayden and grasp the handlebars of their careers.
Get your Moto running
As well as the Season mode, you can jump into an instant race in the Arcade mode, race the clock in Time Trial mode or take on a rider head-on in the One on One mode. For the ultimate challenge of course, you can line up alongside seven other players in the gripping Wireless Multiplayer mode (Ad Hoc).
As you'd expect from the people behind Ridge Racer 1 and 2 on PSP, the visuals are gorgeous with perfectly recreated landscapes for each of the stops on the championship circuit. Not that you're going to have to time to gaze at the fauna, flora and architecture as it whizzes by, but what you will see is some astonishingly detailed bikes and riders (who you can almost feel glaring at you as you pass them), as well as some wince-inducing crash animations.
Virtual riders looking for the ultimate challenge will be in for a punishing treat as MotoGP is the perfect way to experience the intensity of one of the most exciting and competitive motorsports in the world... wherever you are.
