How to earn trophies on PlayStation consoles

Learn about trophy settings, how your trophy level is determined, and how to sync your trophies on PlayStation®5 consoles and PlayStation®4 consoles

Depending on the game, you can earn trophies by accomplishing objectives such as clearing levels, finding collectibles, or completing certain tasks. 

How to view your trophies on PS5 consoles

  1. Select your profile picture from the home screen, and then select Trophies.
    A list of your earned trophies appears.
  2. Select a game from the list to view trophy information for that game.
  3. Select a trophy to see its details.
  1. Select Trophies from the function screen.
  2. Select a game to view details about the trophies you've earned for it.
  3. Press the OPTIONS button to sort your trophies by earned date or grade, or to search online for details about your trophies.

How to pin trophies on PS5 consoles

Pinning a trophy keeps it at the top of the trophies card, so you can easily see its details without looking through the available trophies.

  1. While playing a game, go to the control centre and select the trophies card. 
  2. Select a trophy, and then select Pin Trophy.
    Trophies you've pinned appear above the available trophies.
  • You can pin up to five trophies per game.
  • Want to pin a trophy before you start playing? Simply select Pin Trophy from the trophies details screen.
A ) Trophy stats View the stats of the trophies you've earned for your game.
B ) Pin to Side See the trophies card within your game screen. Display a screen within a screen.
C ) Sort by Rearrange the order of the available trophies in the E section.
D ) Pinned trophies Check the progress or status of the trophies you've pinned.
E ) Available trophies Trophies appear based on your progress in your game. To see all the trophies for your game, select View All Trophies.

Trophy grades

The grades available, starting from most difficult are Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The number and grades of trophies, and the conditions for earning them, vary from game to game.

The rarity level depends on how many players have earned the same trophy. Trophies are categorized into four levels of rarity: Ultra rare, Very rare, Rare, and Common.

How to adjust trophy settings

Trophies you earn are visible on your profile. Adjust who can see your games and your gaming history in Privacy Settings.

How to manually sync your trophies

  1. Select your profile picture from the home screen, and then select Trophies.
  2. Press the options button, and then select Sync with PlayStation Network.
  1. From the function screen select Trophies and press the OPTIONS button. 
  2. Select Sync With PlayStation Network.

How to compare trophies with your friends

  1. Go to the player's profile whose trophies you want to see. 
  2. From the Overview tab, select trophies.
    If you select a game, you can view the trophies for that game.

You can also compare trophies with another player from your own trophies screen.

  1. Select your profile picture from the home screen, and then select Trophies.
  2. While on your trophies screen, press the triangle button.
  3. Select the player you want to compare your trophies with.
    To change the player you're comparing trophies with, press the triangle button, and then select Change Player.
  1. Select Trophies from the function screen and select Compare Trophies.
  2. Select the player you want to compare your trophies with.

How to capture your trophy moments

Your console can automatically save a screenshot, or video clip on PS5 consoles, of the moment you earn a trophy

  1. Go to Settings > Captures and Broadcasts > Auto-captures.
  2. Select Trophies and then choose a capture style:
  • Save Trophy Screenshots
    Automatically saves screenshots. You can also choose to save screenshots of only certain trophy grades.
  • Save Trophy Videos
    Automatically saves video clips. You can also choose to save video clips of only certain trophy grades.
  • Trophy Video Duration
    Choose the length of your saved video clips.

You can view your trophy moments from the trophy details screen and the Media Gallery.

  1. Go to Settings > Sharing and Broadcasts > Screenshot Settings.
  2. Select a capture style: 
  • Take Screenshot Automatically When You Earn Trophy
    Select the checkbox to automatically save a screenshot whenever you earn a trophy.
  • Image Format
    Select the file format for your screenshots.
  • Dimensions
    Select the size of your screenshots.
    This setting is available only on some PS4 consoles.

You can view your trophy moments from the trophy details screen and the Capture Gallery.

How to delete trophy information

You can delete trophy information for a game if you haven't earned any trophies in that game yet. Games that have already earned trophies cannot be deleted.

  1. Select your profile picture from the home screen, and then select Trophies.
  2. Select the game, press the options button and select Delete.
  1. Select Trophies from the function screen.
  2. Select the game, press the OPTIONS button and select Delete.

Go to Profile > Trophies. Tap the game you want to delete trophy information for and select Delete.
