How to set up ‘Require Password at Checkout’ on PlayStation Store

This article explains how to switch this account function on or off on your PlayStation 4.

Activating ‘Require Password at Checkout’ adds an extra layer of security to your PlayStation Store purchases. Please note:

  • The setting applies all devices used to access PlayStation Store.
  • If you would like to limit a child account’s ability to purchase from the store, you can set a spending limit through Family Management settings.

Switch on 'Require Password at Checkout' 

PS4

  1. Go to  [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Wallet] > [Purchase Settings] and enter your sign-in information.
  2. Select ‘Require Password at Checkout?’ and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ and then [Confirm].
  • Web browser / PS App

    • If you are using a web browser, sign in to Account Management, go to the ‘Account’ tab >  [Wallet] > ‘Require Password at Checkout’ and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
    • If you are using the PlayStation App, tap  [PS Icon] >  [PlayStation Store] >  [Online ID] > [Account Settings] > [Wallet] > ‘Require Password at Checkout’ and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
  • PS3

    1. On the XMB Menu go to  [PlayStation Network] >  [Account Management].
    2. Select [Require Password at Checkout] and enter your password.
    3. Select ‘On’ or ‘Off’ from the drop down menu and select ‘Confirm’.
  • PS Vita / PS TV

    1. From the Home Menu go to  [PlayStation Store] and tap  [Options] > [Transaction Management] > [Security].
    2. Enter your password.
    3. Tick or untick the check box to turn the password requirement on or off.
