Cross-Platform Play is a broad term covering any PlayStation Vita software title that can interact with a PS3 software title. New and exciting ways to use this unique functionality are being introduced all the time – the following are a few of the software titles which feature Cross-Platform Play:
Check the icons on the back of the software packaging or inside the software manual. The following icon indicates that a software title supports Cross-Platform Play: For software titles purchased from PlayStation Store, the product description will state if the title supports Cross-Platform Play.
Different software titles use Cross-Platform Play in different ways; some Cross-Platform Play experiences are seamless. For example, in WipEout 2048 the competitive online multiplayer lobbies automatically include both PlayStation Vita users and PS3 users playing WipEout HD. Other games may require a brief initial setup before the Cross-Platform Play features become available. For example, to use your PlayStation Vita system as a Cross-Controller for LittleBigPlanet®2 on the PS3 system, you must complete a short setup process. Select [PlayStation Vita Cross-Controller Setup for LittleBigPlanet®2 on PS3] for details.
This depends on the specific software title and its Cross-Platform Play features. For example, you only need the PlayStation Vita version of WipEout 2048 to race online against PS3 users of WipEout HD. You also only need the PlayStation Vita version of ModNation Racers: Road Trip to download and enjoy tracks created by PS3 users.
If you purchase a disc-based software title featuring Cross-Buy, it will include an additional Cross-Buy item in the form of downloadable digital content. The Cross-Buy item might be a digital version of the software title for PlayStation Vita, a discount, a game add-on or similar.
This means the Cross-Buy item has already been redeemed by another PlayStation Network account. Cross-Buy items can only be downloaded once and by a single PSN account.
