What is PlayStation Now and what do I need to get started?

Find out about PlayStation Now and what you will need to enjoy this service.

What is PlayStation Now?

PlayStation Now is a game streaming service that allows you to play PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 games on compatible devices over the internet. You can get started right away, subject to a few requirements. and pick up your games where you left off on any of your PlayStation Now compatible devices so you will never lose your game progress*.

PlayStation Now is available on compatible devices in the following countries:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Luxembourg
  • Switzerland
  • The Netherlands
  • UK

We will be making the service available on more devices and in more countries as soon as we can. Stay up to date by signing up to the PlayStation mailing list.

*You may find that if you play a game on PlayStation Now that you had previously played a downloaded or disc version of on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3, you will not be able to pick up from your last non-PlayStation Now save and your trophies will not sync with your new PlayStation Now session. Don’t worry - this does not mean that you will lose your trophies and saves from your original gameplay; only that PlayStation Now may not recognise them.

PlayStation Now subscriptions are priced at £12.99 per month.

Free trial

You can sign up for a trial of the subscription service for free, which automatically renews into a monthly subscription at the end of the trial period. You need to link a credit card or your PayPal account to your SEN account when you sign up for a trial so that it can automatically renew, but you can cancel your subscription at any time up to 24 hours before your wallet is charged.

At the moment only a monthly subscription is available, but we will review this as the beta continues.

How does it work?

Games are streamed to your compatible device from a server in a remote data centre. You’ll need to download the PlayStation Now app if you want to play on your PC, but you don’t need to download anything to play on your PS4 system.

You can play as much as you like as long as your subscription is active.

What do I need to get started?

A steady broadband internet connection. Minimum speed required is 5Mbps, and the lower ping your connection has, the better.

  • An adult PSN account.
  • An accepted payment method.
  • A DualShock 4/3 controller.

Available games

PlayStation Now makes hundreds of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 games available to stream. Visit PlayStation Now to find out the latest games.

You may occasionally find that a game is removed from PlayStation Now. This may be because a patch has had to be installed or we have responded to demand by removing a game to add another. If the game you’re looking for has been removed, check PlayStation Now frequently to find out if it’s been made available.

Make sure you use the PlayStation Now Forum to provide feedback on the sorts of titles you would like to play to increase the chance of your favourite games becoming available.
