How to verify a new PSN account

Learn how to verify a Sign-in ID email address.

When you set up a PlayStation Network account, a verification email will be sent to the Sign-in ID email address associated with that account. Simply click on the link in the email to verify your PSN account.

How long will it take for the verification email to arrive?

Verification emails are automatic and should arrive shortly after you register a PSN account. During periods of heavy traffic there may be delays in the verification process.

If you have not received the verification email within 24 hours, try signing in to your account and re-sending the verification email. If you’re certain the email address is correct and you still haven’t received the email after another 24 hours, please contact PlayStation Support.

Why can’t I find the verification email?

If you are having trouble finding the verification email, there are a few troubleshooting steps to try:

  • Search for sony@email.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com in all of your mailboxes, including any spam or junk folders.
  • On your PlayStation system, head to the Account Management section and double check that the Sign-in ID email address is correct. If the address is incorrect, follow the steps at the bottom of the page.
  • Visit the PSN network status page. If any of the services are experiencing network issues, this may be the reason for a delay in the verification process.

I’ve entered the wrong email address. How do I change it?

When you finish creating your PSN account, you will be asked to verify your email address. If you notice that the email address is incorrect, select [Help] > [Change Sign-In ID] and enter the correct email address.
When you finish creating an account, you will be asked to verify your email address. Underneath the ‘Didn’t receive the email?’ heading you will see the email address that has been submitted. If it’s incorrect, click ‘Change’ and enter the correct email address.
When you finish creating an account, an email will be sent to the email address supplied during the creation process. If you entered an incorrect email address, sign in to the account on your PS3 and select ‘Correct E-mail Address’ to change it.
