PS4 Remote Play for Android and Apple iOS devices

Find out how to use Remote Play to stream games from your PlayStation 4 to a compatible Android phone or tablet and Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

 
 

Get started with Remote Play on Android or Apple iOS

Before you start Remote Play, you will need:
 
  • An Android or Apple iOS device which meets the system requirements
  • PlayStation 4 (With System Software 6.50 or later installed)
  • Home Wi-Fi network with upload and download speeds of at least 5 Mbps (12 Mbps recommended)
 
 

Minimum requirements for Remote Play

Android

Requires Android 5.0 or later

Apple iOS device

Requires iOS 12.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

STEP 1: Set up PS4 for Remote Play on Android or Apple iOS device

Enable Remote Play on PS4:

  1. Go to [Settings] > [Remote Play Connection Settings].
  2. Check the box next to [Enable Remote Play].

Activate your PS4 as your Primary PS4:

  1. [Settings] > [Account Management] > [Activate as Your Primary PlayStation 4] > [Activate].

Please note, you can only have one Primary PS4 activated. For more information, visit the PS4 activation guide.

Allow Remote Play to start when PS4 is in Rest Mode:

  1. [Settings] > [Power Save Settings] > [Set Features Available in Rest Mode].
  2. Check the boxes next to [Stay Connected to the Internet] and [Enable Turning On PS4 from Network].
 
 

STEP 2: Set up Android or Apple iOS device for Remote Play

  1. Click on the link to download the installation file for Android or Apple iOS device.

If your PS4 is in rest mode and activated as the Primary PS4 for your account, the Remote Play connection should be automatic when you launch the Remote Play app:

  1. Launch the PS4 Remote Play app and select the [Settings] gear in the upper right of the screen and log in.
  2. From the app home screen, select [Start]. 

If the app doesn't connect a prompt will ask you to register manually

 
 

Connect DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller via Bluetooth

Compatible devices using the operating systems listed below support Bluetooth connection with a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. Once connected, you can use your DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller to play compatible titles and applications such as PS4 Remote Play.

Please note, when using a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller with an Apple iOS device, the PS button cannot be used on the DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller. Using the touch controls on your Apple iOS device will allow you to use the PS, SHARE, OPTIONS and touch pad functions.

Manually register a PS4 for Remote Play on Android or Apple iOS

  1. On the PS4, go to [Settings] > [Remote Play Connection Settings] > [Add Device].
  2. Take a note of the eight-digit code. This code is valid for 300 seconds.
  3. Enter the code into the Remote Play app.
