    LittleBigPlanet goes to the fair

Sackboy bounces into his latest big adventure with even more ways to play and get creative in LittleBigPlanet PlayStation Vita. This time, however, a mysterious new planet has drifted into the cosmos…

As the bright lights of fairground world Carnivalia mesmerise the residents of LittleBigPlanet, all is not as it seems. Behind the fun and laughter of Carnivalia’s many sideshows, games and rides lurks a shadowy figure known only as The Puppeteer, controlling the funfair for his own devious ends. Accompanied by his mischievous army of Hollows – emotionless drones bent on causing chaos throughout the funfair – The Puppeteer sets about taking out his bitterness on LittleBigPlanet by stealing all of the joy and happiness from Sackboy’s creative and colourful home.

Accompanied by a cast of lovable characters – and equipped with a host of useful gadgets – Sackboy sets off to unravel the mysteries of Carnivalia and foil The Puppeteer’s dastardly plans by restoring joy to LittleBigPlanet.

Set across five themed areas, each jam-packed with unique levels, games and hilarious cutscenes, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita brings a fresh, storyline-driven element to the smash-hit series of games that has brought a community of millions together.

If you can imagine it, you can play it

The action on Carnivalia takes place over five themed zones, each with their own Curator – lovable characters packed with personality who have been cast out by The Puppeteer and act as Sackboy’s guide to this new world.

Each zone is brimming with originality and sparkles with unmistakable LittleBigPlanet style. The first of these – La Marionetta – introduces Sackboy to hilarious Curator Colonel Flounder who recounts the dark tale of The Puppeteer, before teaching Sackboy some of the moves he’ll need to bounce and swing his way through Carnivalia and how to interact with the world around him.

Being LittleBigPlanet, there are countless ways to make your mark and create any game you can special items that you’ll find dotted around. Thanks to the front and rear cameras, it’s easy to bring your world into play; take a snap of anything you fancy and instantly transform it into stickers, building blocks, decorations or anything else you can dream up.

Whether you’re starting out in Carnivalia or learning the creative ropes in My Moon, the dulcet tones of comedian Stephen Fry – now established as the voice of LittleBigPlanet – are on hand to guide you through all the tutorials you’ll need to get your adventure under way.

Get touchy-feely with PS Vita controls

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita makes full use of the PS Vita system’s intuitive controls, allowing Sackboy to move through Carnivalia in a host of new and exciting ways.

You’ll find all of the familiar items from past LittleBigPlanet games – such as spongy blocks and super-springy bounce pads – alongside brand new movable objects. Thanks to the many features of the PS Vita system, everything in LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is a lot more hands-on. Use the touchscreen to pick up and move objects, or tap the rear touch pad to push blocks forward and create new platforms to help Sackboy on his way. Tilting your PS Vita will get things moving when Sackboy encounters a zip line, while the front and rear cameras let you take a snapshot of anything else you like and instantly create stickers to slap all over Carnivalia or your own levels in My Moon.

Sackboy also has a host of gadgets at his disposal. Strap on the Grabinator to lift and carry heavy items, fire the grappling hook to hoist Sackboy up to hard to reach spots or grab on to fast-moving roller coasters. Load up his trusty Creatinator and use the touchscreen to zap hungry goo-seeking mechanical bugs from its head-mounted cannon.

Away from the main storyline, there’s an Arcade zone overflowing with fun-filled mini-games, from retro-style shooters to original brain-teasing puzzles. There’s plenty to keep you entertained between adventures, with more games added the further you progress through the story, as well as special side levels that appear in each zone for an added challenge for you and up to three friends in special multiplayer games.

    Join a cast of millions

As Sackboy makes his way through Carnivalia’s many zones and levels, from time to time he’ll encounter special co-op areas that require another person nearby to help out. By connecting to another PS Vita owner via PlayStation Network you can collaborate on a whole world of levels that are only accessible alongside another Sackperson.

Hidden throughout Carnivalia are special keys which open up side levels and versus levels in each zone. You can play these mini-games on your own on one PS Vita system or via PlayStation Network, letting everyone enjoy all the fun of the fair. You could find yourself on the rampage in a toy tank, racing to the chequered flag or testing your powers of quick thinking and logic in any of the puzzle games that appear.

Of course, being a LittleBigPlanet game, there are endless ways to play and create any game you can possibly imagine thanks to all of the creative tools found in My Moon. Armed with the touchscreen and rear touch pad, it’s easier than ever to sculpt, move, resize and place objects anywhere you please in order to build your own game, before uploading your creation to share via PlayStation Network and sharing it with the global LittleBigPlanet community of millions.
